Why is my subscription on auto-renewal?
When you use our online subscription form to sign up for Mother Jones magazine, you can choose whether to opt in to our Evergreen auto-renewal program. By opting for auto-renewal, you help nonprofit Mother Jones save the money we'd normally spend on costly paper and postage to send you renewal notices. And we pass the savings on to you, giving you a discounted renewal rate. (Evergreen rates are currently $18 per year for U.S. print edition subscribers and all Digital Edition subscribers — that's 50% off the newsstand rate! Evergreen rates are currently $28 for print edition subscribers outside the 50 United States.) You’ll get uninterrupted service and you won't have multiple renewal notices cluttering your mailbox. You'll receive a renewal reminder once a year. If we don't hear from you, we'll simply charge your credit card or bill you for the new subscription term. Of course, you may cancel your subscription at any time.(top)

Who do I contact if I don't want my subscriber information shared?
When we launched Mother Jones more than 30 years ago, we recognized that tenacious, muckraking reporting rarely made for a profitable business. So Mother Jones was set up under a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called the Foundation for National Progress. The idea was to pay for MoJo's feisty independent journalism through a combination of charitable contributions and traditional business revenue from circulation and advertising.

As part of that formula, we rent our subscriber mailing list for one-time use to select companies and causes (though we allow any reader who doesn't want to receive that mail to opt out). If you want to want take your name out of the pool we make available for rental, you can let us know via or write us at 222 Sutter St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94108. (top)

How many issues does Mother Jones publish each year?
We publish six issues a year: a January/February issue, a March/April issue, and so on.
