Al Gore Teams With Snoop Dogg to Fight Global Warming
Al Gore's anti-global warming/entertainment juggernaut continues. Gore, in conjunction with the Microsoft Network, just announced Live Earth, a series of Live 8-style worldwide concerts on July 7. Proceeds will go to found "a new, multi-year global effort to combat the climate crisis." (Yeah, but only after Ticket Master gets its cut.) The lineup includes Pharrell, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Snoop Dogg, Lenny Kravitz, and Bon Jovi, to name a few. (No word on enviropunks Green Day yet, but Snow Patrol will also be rockin' to protect the glaciers.) And before you shell out for tix, get up to speed with our recent coverage of climate change.

Anything to get our Canadian & US federal governments to ACT.
But they (OIL elites & Bush/Cheney White House) are drunk with OUR money from OUR oil profits. The oil belongs to the PLANET. The PEOPLE of the world have been shut out.
History will subject the deniers & procrastinators of climate change regulation as fools & criminals & murderers. Bush Cheney Harper & Howard are the 4 horsemen of the coming climate change apocalypse.
Michael T. Klare in Foreign Policy in Focus, reprinted at AlterNet on February 17, is yet another article on Climate Change. Here is his conclusion & recommendations:
Conclusion: Global warming is an energy problem, & we cannot have both an increase in conventional fossil fuel use & a habitable planet. Yet the US is projected to consume 35% more oil, coal, & gas combined in 2030 than in 2004.
1) Since 42% of American CO2 emissions (the largest share) are produced through the combustion of petroleum, anything that reduces oil consumption -- higher fuel-efficiency standards for motor vehicles, bigger incentives for hybrids, greater use of ethanol, improved public transportation, car-pooling, and so -- should be made a major priority.
2) Because the combustion of coal in electrical power plants is our next biggest source of CO2, improving the efficiency of these plants & filtering out the harmful emissions has to be another top priority.
3) We should accelerate research into promising new techniques for the capture & "sequestration" of carbon during the combustion of fossil fuels in electricity generation. Some of these plans call for burying excess carbon in hollowed-out coalmines and oil wells -- a very practical use for these abandoned relics, but only if it can be demonstrated that none of the carbon will leak back into the atmosphere, adding to the buildup of GHGs.
Clearly, I would suggest that this is a role for the federal US & Canadian governments. They have failed themselves. They have failed the country. They have failed the people. They have failed the land & water of the United States & Canada. They have failed.
The environmental & Climate Change torch has been picked up and is being passed between/amongst provincial and state & municipal authorities. And especially NGOs. And a growing wave of people accross North America. Other countries are way ahead.
Federal governments: Clinton and Bush in the US; Chretien, Martin & Harper in Canada are the environmental criminals.
Bush & Harper are DELAYING still. Delaying so that their elite OIL buddies can make more money. At the expense of "We The People".
The oil elites will have pockets filled with our money while the ordinary person will have lungs filled with CO2 (& empty pockets).
