This is truly horrific. How will we ever stop the slaughter of these beautiful and intelligent creatures. I've been so lucky to have seen 12 different species of cetaceans in the wild. These creatures are amazing. They are certainly worthy of moral consideration in their own right.

I would love to be able to do something really meaningful to stop this slaughter, even if it weren't in complete violation of international treaty regarding Antarctic waters. And now, Iceland is joining Japan and Norway.

Years ago, I had heard about researchers that went to the Japanese whale meat market and purchased meat that was allegedly all minke meat, as if that wasn't bad enough.

Through DNA analysis they found all of the large and endangered whales in the market. Here's an article I found with a quick search on the subject. I do not recall my original source. This confirms that even sperm whales are being taken.

I find all of this truly horrific. It is yet another reminder of my reasons for being as misanthropic as I am. Individuals may be OK, even most may be. However, our species really is disgusting and evil.

For a country that prides itself for honorable behavior, this needless slaughter could not be more dishonorable.
