The LA Times story came straight from the military with little research.
The acinetobacter baumannii strains from Iraq are now almost completely resistant to every antimicrobial available.
They have contaminated the entire military medical system, the VA medical system, the National Institute for Health, and civilian hospitals all across our country.
In addition countries with soldiers and contractors wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan go through our field hospitals and Landstuhl before being repatriated. Along with them goes the MDRAb.
Britian and Australia are having huge problems with this as well as many third world countries that are even less prepared than us to deal with it.
I get calls nearly every day from family members of patients dying in civilian hospitals from these strains.
The numbers are no where near what the military is promoting.
They have also been the perfect breeding ground for MRSA which is in the news now. There have been many co-infections with MRSA and MDRAb.

James Watson, a Nobel Prize winner(like Al Gore and J. Carter) for his part in the unravelling of DNA who now runs one of America's leading scientific research institutions and is one of the world's most eminent scientists was embroiled in an extraordinary row last night after he claimed that black people were less intelligent than white people and the idea that "equal powers of reason" were shared across racial groups was a delusion.
He said Western policies towards African countries were wrongly based on an assumption that black people were as clever as their white counterparts when "testing" suggested the contrary. He claimed genes responsible for creating differences in human intelligence could be found within a decade. So much for the waste of resources on diversity and multi-culturalism.

One heck of an astute observation, professor! Yes, we are certainly the most intelligent race of humans existed, or ever will!

We are told this is a new strain of staph. But the good doctors are either ignorant of epidemiology or afraid to tell the truth. Let us reason together. But others are being brought into emergency rooms by the millions of illegal aliens who use our hospitals for primary care. Trudy and Anonymous , the way that you post, one could think that you are anti-Semites. Dr. Watson is right about us being blessed by G-d as being the most intelligent, as a group(there are glaring exceptions, but exceptions do not prove the rule). You can thank my people for bring the world's greatest scientists and philosophers. Freud, Marx, the Old Testament, you name it. My people came to America with nothing, now we our represented way beyond our population percentage in the media and many of the professions, not to mention finance. We worked hard and struggled and know how to network. The other minorities, e.g. Afro-American and Hispanic, can learn from us how to overcome obstacles. Success brings resentment.
