Republican Candidates Lukewarm On Global Warming
Interesting piece in today's New York Times on global warming as the new litmus test for Republican presidential wannabes:
While many conservative commentators and editorialists have mocked concerns about climate change, a different reality is emerging among Republican presidential contenders. It is a near-unanimous recognition among the leaders of the threat posed by global warming. Within that camp, however, sharp divisions are developing. Senator John McCain of Arizona is calling for capping gas emissions linked to warming and higher fuel economy standards. Others, including Rudolph W. Giuliani and Mitt Romney, are refraining from advocating such limits and are instead emphasizing a push toward clean coal and other alternative energy sources. All agree that nuclear power should be greatly expanded.
Reason enough to deny them the job, IMO.

As long as each of them is pushing for something, I guess that is a step forward for Republicans. I mean, it's a shame that they can't open their eyes. Even if they refuse to accept climate change as a reason, better fuel economy and renewable electricity standards will benefit the environment regardless and make this planet a better place to live. I'm sure you are aware of the energy bill which has the possibility of passing a 35 mpg fuel economy standard as well as a 15% renewable electricity standard by 2020. These are excellent targets but they are being threatened. I'm working with a coalition to try to keep these standards as they are. Please sign our petition, and let your readers know about this excellent opportunity to make a difference. http://www.energybill2007.org/ Thanks!
As long as there is still money to be made in fossil fuels, we're going to keep dragging our feet when it comes to all this Global Warming stuff. Only when we're all choking to death because there's no more breathable air, and frying ourselves on the sidewalk because its too hot, or drowning in costal areas due to rising sea levels, and starving because we can't grow our crops in the areas we used to be able to, then, just MAYBE, we'll start getting a move on on this crap. All anyone cares about anymore is money and profit. They'd rather be rich than provide a safe and healthy environment for their kids, or grandkids, or great grandkids. Personal gain rather than the betterment of humanity as a whole is just pathetic, it really is. Like their fat paychecks couldn't take a pay cut to try and better the world.

Nuclear power is clean energy. Other clean energy can not be produced in mass. Look at your intellectual superiors, the French, that is about all they use. China is also going nuclear. Get realistic folks. Most of the world doesn't like living in poverty. They will go nuclear. Get use to it. You Pig Americans, just stop driving your big SUVs and miniVans, and pick up trucks. You are the ones to blame along with the meat eaters for global warming.
