All I Want for Christmas is a Biodiesel Hummer. No, Really.
Think there are no real inventors anymore? That would be news to Johnathan Goodwin, proud creator of the world's most fuel-efficient Hummer.
By combining biodiesel and hybrid technology and reconfiguring engines, Goodwin can double the fuel efficiency of a number of giant American cars and nearly eliminate their emissions, using almost nothing but stock GM parts (OK, and the occasional jet engine). He's currently working on the Governator's 1987 Wagoneer, and is slated to overhaul Neil Young's 1960 Lincoln Continental.
As for the country's decaying car capital, Goodwin has little sympathy, pointing out that "Detroit could do all this stuff overnight if it wanted to."

i think it wonderful that they can use biodiesel and hybrid technology and reconfiguring enginecan to make fuel efficiency of a number of giant American cars and nearly eliminate their emissionss. this can save use lots of money in the long run but how much is it going to cost us to covert our cars? gas prices are so outragous but is it cheaper than all the other expensive gasoline saving devices?
Didn't Schwarzenegger do this after the Earth Day edition of "Pimp My Ride"?

The real value of Goodwin's work is not providing fuel efficient conversions of massive vehicles. The value is in proving to car manufacturers that such a thing is actually possible. With a self-taught hobbyist out there cranking this technology out of his garage, it's a little hard for the Big Three to claim that they can't make fuel-efficient vehicles.

BIOFUELS=DISASTER.
It's misleading for the governments to use biofuels to appear more environmentally friendly.
George Monbiot warns "that biofuels would set up a competition for food between cars and people." Biofuels also mean the destruction of forests as producers search for land to grow crops (now the main cause of deforestation in Indonesia). When the destruction of trees is factored in biodiesel creates more CO2 than regular diesel. People are being kicked off of their land to make way for soy and corn crops, producers have no qualms about tearing up the rainforests of the Amazon. We're trading one problem in for something even more destructive if we continue to support biofuels.
Start with monbiot.com and search his articles for more info.

Gas is cheap. Raise the price, that's the only way anything is going to get accomplished. Keep the same ol' cars for all I car just use them less! Let's build a world where you dont' always need to drive!!!
