Rapoport is retired chairman and CEO of American Income Life Insurance Co., which sells supplemental insurance policies to more than 2 million union members. Rapoport told Mother Jones: "My father was a Russian Jewish revolutionist. The first candidate I supported was a Socialist candidate. I started getting involved when I was 11 years old. You could say it's in my blood."
