REP. HARRIS FAWELL (R-IL)

On April 2, 1992, Rep. Fawell purchased between 1,000 and 15,000 dollars worth of stock in Nalco.

On the same day, April 2, a bill was introduced in the House that, if passed, would damage Nalco. The bill was: 1992 H.R. 4750: GLOBAL CLIMATE PROTECTION ACT. To stabilize emissions of carbon dioxide to protect the global climate (Referred to House Energy and Commerce. Not Enacted).

Nalco manufactures a chemical injection system used in steel production to control NO emissions. With Nalco's system, a solution of urea is injected with other chemicals into the boiler; the urea links with various oxides of nitrogen to produce nitrogen, water and CARBON DIOXIDE.

POLITICAL MONEY NOTES: From December 1989 thru September 1993, Rep. Fawell has accepted $7,850 in campaign contributions from Nalco: $5,100 from Nalco's PAC, and $2,750 from Nalco employees.
