A spiritual leader and lecturer at the Dar Al-Arqam Islamic Center, al-Timimi was charged with inciting the members of the "Virginia Jihad Network" and supporting the Taliban. At a meeting on September 16, 2001, he allegedly urged his followers to "go abroad and join the mujahideen." He was sentenced to life in prison.
