Arrested in the post-9/11 dragnet, Iqbal was found with false immigration papers and was deported to Pakistan. Though the case has no clear terrorist links, the DOJ has classified it as terrorism-related. Iqbal sued former Attorney General John Ashcroft in 2009 for the abuses he suffered in a Brooklyn detention center.
