Royer, an FBI agent, leaked confidential information about companies to Amr Elgindy. FBI agents posing as subscribers to Elgindy's website caught them manipulating stock prices. Royer quit the FBI to work for Elgindy and also enlisted Lynn Wingate, a fellow agent and his girlfriend, in the scheme. He was sentenced to six years in prison.
