Maflahi, a gas station owner, assisted Sheikh Satar, a controversial Yemeni cleric, with collecting donations at mosques during his 1999 visit to Brooklyn. When questioned by authorities, he lied about his affiliation with the sheikh. Both were connected to Abad Elfgeeh's money transfer operation. Maflahi was sentenced to five years in prison.
