Dubbed the "shoe bomber," Richard Reid attempted to blow up a trans-Atlantic flight with explosives hidden in his shoes. Passengers and flight attendants foiled his plot. He had trained at a terrorist camp in Pakistan. "20th hijacker" Zacarias Moussaoui said that Reid were tasked with crashing a plane into the White House on September 11, 2001. Reid was sentenced to life in prison.
