In a meeting with an FBI informant, Malike tried to buy C-4 explosives, but couldn't come up with the cash. He also attempted to buy night-vision goggles and bulletproof vests from an undercover FBI agent. Malike also took a cruise during which he videotaped bridges. There was no evidence Malike had any links to terrorist groups. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
