I am an adoptive parent, and this has to be one of my worst nightmares: to think that I was party to exploitation to build my family. We were intending to adopt from Guatemala about 10 years ago, and I always felt like there was not sufficient evidence that things were above board. Even if they are in an orphanage, they can be abducted. In the U.S., I think there are coercive practices. We have an open adoption...I think that many people choose international to avoid conflicts with birth families. If you adopt from foster care, it is very complicated.

Speaking as a real conservative, I wonder. Who am I to tell people whether they can be married or not? If marrying gays is something the church doesn't want to do, then who am I to tell them to do it. I can still have my religion, while preserving the "sanctity" of MY marriage, while not worrying about what others are doing with their lives. If Christians really believe in God, they'll know that all will be judged before Him. So what do I care what anyone else does, as long as its withstanding of law and order. Let gays have marriage, If it is wrong, God will judge accordingly. This is something I just wouldn't vote on either way. It has absolutely no effect on me.
