Go to @AdamWeinstein's new @MotherJones piece for the excellent #Libya take, stay for the classy Hemmingway quote.
Excellent stuff from @MotherJones on US income inequality. Would love to see British equivalent.
I don't think this article blames anything on Obama just points out a new argument against his plan. I think it's wise of us to consider all possibilities before permanently committing to nuclear energy, especially on such a large scale. Pe...rhaps this is why liberals go round in circles - cause they are so quick to jump in defense rather than actually read the article. I live in a state with a nuclear power plant that is struggling with leaks regularly at the moment. This idea is terrifying. Do I want 100 more around the country? That's a long hard consideration that warrants a great deal of scrutinizing.
Thanks Mac. While I was reading the article the first time, I was disgusted with the event (events!) and the article. Thank you for articulating much more clearly than "AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" what is wrong with that article! If I can't write something as articulate as you have, I can at least re-post it and link it around. Well done.
I'm probably not a typical Mother Jones reader. I'm a conservative/libertarian that enjoys a good debate and reads all across the political spectrum. As a "conservative" and one who is distraught at how the conservative side has been co-opt...ed by the religious extremeists and theocrats, this is an issue I fall right in the liberal/progressive camp. I'm for small and limited government, and I fear any government powerful enough to use force to compel any woman to have a baby she doesn't want to have. As a man, I feel deeply unqualified to even say what women should do with their bodies . I am unable to get pregnant, and feel that women should be left alone to make this very difficult choice without coercion or interference. Just my two cents.
A must-read if you want to grasp the fight for #education
It is very clear from Kate Sheppard's articles that she has a thorough, detailed and wide-ranging knowledge and understanding of climate science, and that she is a superb journalist who effectively communicates to her readers regarding both scientific developments and relevant policy issues. As a reader I am grateful for both her knowledge and her excellent journalistic skills
I read this story today, and while some of those quotes are pretty horrific, I think it's a reflection on a backwards community, not on journalism. I don't agree that it is "rape-friendly" article, they are simply describing the kind of env...ironment that would produce such a crime. Only in a town this ass-backwards -- where rapists are seen as some misguided kids and the victim is seen as irresponsible for hanging with boys and in a bad neighborhood -- could this take place. The reporter certainly brought that home with some of the moronic quotes from local yokels.
How Girls Gone Wild weirdly subsidizes investigative reporting (and no, this isn't a HuffPo joke)
About five years ago I started reading your magazine while I was in the military. I've since been discharged as a conscientious objector and your publication is about the only habit I've kept from those days. I just want to say that your construction of an internet presence has been amazing. You run easily the best news outlet on the web. In particular, you're simply the best at linking to important documents. You even link to documents that you have exclusive access to! Who else does that? Thank you, thank you, thank you for being fantastic journalists.
14 Dems not coming back, I say. Other civil rights protests have gone on longer. Keep it up, Wisconsin!! And all of us should keep badgering (pun intended) the main stream media to cover this. You would think everyone had gone home if you watch/listen/read mainstream media.
