Is this when we tell Lieberman that we were just kidding about his chairmanships and sell him as a page?
I'm from Georgia, so no one is more depressed about this than me. But I guess we (and by we I mean Georgians) deserve six more years of his asshattery. I'm just sorry he'll be inflicted on the rest of you as well. Way to stay home, GA Dems.
The best feature of Tivo is that I got to miss all of that scumbag's ads.
It was always a long shot to win both GA and MN. Probably neither.
But it will make the Dems work across the aisle. And if they do that smartly it will make the Reps work with them or look like obstructionists at a time the nation needs decisions and action.
Are the Dems smart?
Reid? Not. Pelosi? Maybe, maybe not. Obama, seems like.
Odds not good.
Two words: nuclear option
Six more words: for the first 100 days
One has to wonder if Obama had taken some time to campaign for Martin if the outcome might have been different. Given the margin, probably not, but it had to be worth a try. I suspect that had polling been closer, it would have made it to the POTUS-Elect agenda.
Georgians choose a racist vet-hater, soldier-hater. I guess that's the Confederate thing all over.
It seems 60% of Georgia voters have reelected another Republican who is a member of the do nothing except for rich cronies wing of the Grand Ostrich Party. Given the problems our nation is facing and the need to act, we can only hope the 40% become 51% in the next two to four to six years. I have friends in Georgia who are Democrats and who voted for Max Cleland. I hope they live enough to see some progress again.
I really don't see why this is a bummer. With Lieberman in the democratic caucus, the democrats never would have had a solid 60 anyway.
Crud.
So, what is the Senate math going to be (assuming Franken can't make it)? Which moderate Republicans can we get on our team? How do we get to 60 on key issues?
Wow. Imagine have depressing it must be to have the reelection of a demonstrably stupid racist gasbag in a low-turnout election be your bright spot.
Hee, hee, hee, hee...
I'm sorry. Any day now I'll grow up and stop gloating.
The real bummer would have come for the Republicans if Martin would have won.
You forgot to precede his name with "the execrable." His formal title is: "The Execrable Saxby Chambliss."
