Contributors | September/October 2008

This issue was written largely by the (if we do say so) extremely talented staff of Mother Jones, whose contributions are too lengthy to list in total here; consult your masthead. But a special shout-out to those who wrote two pieces: DC bureau reporters Stephanie Mencimer (“10 Ways to Satisfy Your President,” “Tuna Surprise“) and Bruce Falconer (“Grand Obama Party,” “Weakened Warriors“), and San Francisco-based reporter Josh Harkinson (“The Wed Menace,” “Hooked on Phonies“).

Amy Goodman and David Goodman (“America’s Most Dangerous Librarians“) recently cowrote Standing Up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times. Antonin Kratochvil’s latest book of photographs is Moskow Nights.

David Cole (“Power Corrupts“) has represented several post-9/11 detainees, including Maher Arar, a Canadian who was rendered to Syria.

Contributing writer Joshua Kurlantzick (“Relief Disaster,” “The Chinavore’s Dilemma“) is the author of Charm Offensive: How China’s Soft Power Is Transforming the World.

Contributing writer Jack Hitt (“Pursuit of Habeas“), who won a Peabody Award for This American Life‘s “Habeas Schmabeas,” points out that “future eighth-graders will have to memorize key places and dates: Runnymede in 1215 and Guantanamo in 2008.” Ralph Steadman has illustrated more than 50 books, including Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
