Brownback May Block Bush's Nominee For U.S. District Court Judgeship
Judge Janet T. Neff, a member of the Michigan Court of Appeals, is George W. Bush's nominee for a spot on the U.S. District Court. Neff has a long-time neighbor who is a lesbian, and in 2002, she attended her friend's commitment ceremony in Massachusetts. According to Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas, Neff's attendance gave the appearance that she "betrayed her legal views on gay marriage."
Apparently, whether Neff favors gay marriage or not, Brownback thinks it would be perfectly fine for her to betray her friendship and hurt her friend's feelings. Such is the complexity of "family values."
The senator says he does not believe Neff should automatically be disqualified because she attended the ceremony. "I'm still looking at the Neff situation, and I will in the future," he said.

I fear Senator Brownback is betraying his deep seated prejudice and fear of homosexuals and the concept of same-sex marriage. Only the narrowest of minds would judge an individual's personal views or his/her qualifications for a professional position based on having attended the nuptials of a co-worker, neighbour, family member or friend. I am sure if the senator was to look back on the weddings he has attended over the years, he might find a few where the celebrants might lead others to give pause to consider his qualifications for his position. Now that I typed the sentence it looks even more ridiculous than it sounded in my head. Come on Senator, just admit that you are a homophobe and get over it. At least you would be doing something honest for a change.
Brownback is a Catholic as I am(but not his kind of Catholic which is/repsesents the worst in the church)but he commits the sin of Pride whereby he sets himself up as a judge of others just as the Pope, the Vatican and the USCCB judges others as most Catholics do. Only God is allowed to judge but Brownback a right wing radical evangelical fundamentalist jihadist Catholic sets himself above God and sets out to destroy others because they think they know the mind of God and will above all else do whatever is necessary to carry that out no matter the damage to others and to our beloved America. And the Pope supports this?
The Catholic agenda will result in the further shredding of our Constitution and the ever deepening fractures in our society.
Throw the arrogant elite know it alls out of gov't and enact laws against them.These people are the handmaidens of Georgie boy Bush and worship at his altar and not at all at the altar of the true Christ, not Bush the false christ(small c). Bush and the Catholic Church are not Pro-Life, obviously they are Pro-Birth and Pro-Death, of our citizens, our troops and Iraqi and Afghani citizens.
