Hillary Responds to 1984-style YouTube Ad, Code Pink Sings to Her

Hillary Clinton has finally responded to the pro-Obama 1984-style ad on YouTube characterizing her as "Big Brother," TPMcafe reports. The amateur video has caused quite the stir. As Jonathan wrote yesterday, the three versions of the ad "have had a combined viewership of more than 1,300,000, and have an average rating of more than four stars." And some were wondering if this would mean trouble for the New York senator. But from me to Hillary, I have to say, nicely played.

"I haven't seen it but I'm pleased that it seems to be taking attention away from what used to be on YouTube and getting a lot of hits, namely me singing 'The Star Spangled Banner.' Everybody in the world now knows I can't carry a tune," said Clinton. "I thank heavens for small favors and the attention has shifted, and now maybe people won't have to tune in and hear me screeching about 'The Star Spangled Banner.'"

This interview was posted just hours before a big fundraising event for her campaign here in Washington, which brought in $2.7 million and a bunch of Code Pink women. Reps from the anti-war group were there to remind Hillary that America wants her to take a stronger stance on the war. (Hillary's refusal to apologize for voting to authorize the war has caused concern among Democrats.) And they were singing. Yup. I still have Frere Jaques in my head.

"Are you listening, are you listening? Hillary, Hillary. Boys and girls are dying, politicians lying. Bring them home, bring them home."

I agree. This was a very good move on her part. Do not acknowledge the piece of crap as anything other than a distraction. She almost made it sound positive. Well done.

I hope Obama does as well discrediting it as Hillary did. I think it would help to shed any mud that might otherwise have stuck if people believe this to be true dem v. dem mudslinging.

I don't care for the stupid YouTube ads, or political ads in general, especially this early in an election. Following this crap closely is for losers.

I don't think Hillary is very appealing to many voters. I have a hard time seeing her in office. As much optimism Dems have right now, I can see them really messing things up some how for 08'. The past 2 elections are good indicators of future performance. Sure, Obama seems like a solid leader but he is not going to attract enough black voters out to make a difference- it's the same people that vote every election. The youth and "minorities" don't make it out to vote unfortunately- most Americans are lazy and take their voting rights for granted. Just tellin it the way it is...

Hillary may not be appealing to you. Polls show her as quite appealing to many other voters. As for the last two "elections", the Democrats defintely and solidly won the first. The electoral college must be removed. It's time to hold a national election. There is no reason why land should vote, as it does today. For the second, '04, the jury is still out. Criminal charges have been filed against election officials in Ohio.

So, if by "messing things up some how", you mean allowing the republicans to steal a third straight election, yes, that could happen.

Misanthropic Scott- Agreed- election process needs an overhaul but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen. Sure, Ohio and Florida have been questionable the past two major elections but the 04' was a decisive win by Bush- he swept it. I voted for Mr. Longwinded Kerry. In 04', Bush was still popular over his position in Iraq- sure, it would have been a different outcome if Republicans were sick of the war then. I think Hillary would be a way better leader than Bush which isn't saying much. I just don't think she will win because Republicans are going to polarize the country over her because people are dumb and easily manipulated.

Youtube is a hotbed for political commentary, no doubt about it. However, we must ask ourselves, how long until this streaming "broadcast yourself" media is completely censored just like everything else?

In the meantime, I've found another fabulous youtube video that falls in line with the recent spring of "Political Entertainment" that critiques, while it entertains.

I wish film and television had as much bite as our current internet content.

I will give her this: Hillary inspires. She inspired Merle Haggard to write what sounds like a tribute to her, and she inspired me to write what sounds like an answer to Merle's song about Hillary:
