Hustler (!!) at the Heart of the Vitter Sex Scandal
If this story keeps getting more entertaining, we may blog nothing else. Turns out, Hustler was the news organization ("news organization") that discovered Senator Vitter's presence on the DC Madam's phone list. They called Vitter for comment, and Vitter, realizing the game was up, ran to the AP with the admission, so as to preempt the Hustler story. Larry Flint, grand don of all things Hustler, is on an ongoing campaign to expose the hidden sexual misdeeds of the powerful, so there may be more of this glorious nonsense coming down the pipe.
Kudos to Mr. Flint. The same man who has been supplying me with awesome pornography since 13 has done it again with this explosive story. What a sticky situation for Senator Vitter. I respect the Hustler publication for it's investigative journalism and spread eagle lesbian anal threesomes pictorials. Thanks Larry!!
i certainly dont know much about Hustler except it is adult entertainment. i have never heard of them making false claims about themselves either.
it seems the good senator vitter cant make the second claim. i learned a long time ago, from my father, that if you live in a glass house you had better make sure you are without sin before throwing a rock. a simple lesson i think.
Are you sneering at Hustler? They got one of the most important SC rulings of recent decades. And they have consistently pursued a policy of exposing politicians. Oh, if even MoJo had such a record, much less the popular media. I don't care a fig for the immorality of Vitter/Clinton/Livingston/etc. But exposing this false moralism being used a political tool is one of the more important contributions to society by any media currently going.
Well said, Julio. Hustler did have an important supreme court ruling. I think Mr. Flint should be respected for that. I am not one to be offended by porn as I regularly look at it. It does seem Mojo is sneering at the fact Hustler was involved in the DC Madam's list. While Mojo makes for alright source of information, it is certainly no Hustler.
Sneering at Hustler? Gee, I just thought Mr. Stein was pointing out a rather delicious irony - that it takes a pornographer to out the hypocrisy of people like Vitter.

Judge an organization by the results. Hustler got the results, not the New York Times. But it is not real news, who sleeps with whom. The real news is that Libby, Rich, Clinton, Bush, and Fitzgerald are all related.

Wow, Larry Flint stikes again: Remember when Vitter's predecessor (in the HoR, not the Senate), Bob Livingston, was pushing the impeachment of Clinton until Larry Flint outed him for having multiple affairs?
Livingston called Flint a 'bottom feeder.' Flint responded 'Yes, I am a bottom feeder, and look what I found when I got down here.'
Apparently Louisiana's 1st district really likes to elect sanctimonious Republican bottom feeders...
But hey, no sweat Vitter, surely there's a nice cushy lobbying job out there for you just like there was for old Bobby.
If you sell something then be willing to buy it. In other words don't pitch the "sacred cow" of family values then run out and get your knob polished at the local whorehouse. People want politicians who are straight up pardon the expression. Be what you say. Be straightforward, be transparent, be honest. For cryin' out loud do we need to go over this again and again. Congress members would serve us well if they would quit selling what they don't believe in so we can make a well-informed vote rather than being bullshitted. Private and public roadways travel in the same directions. If you hide the fact that your family values include whoring after work everybody gets confused about what you mean when you say you support family values.
