Was Pat Tillman Murdered?

The AP is reporting new details about the death of former NFL player Pat Tillman, who was killed under suspicious circumstances in Afghanistan in 2004:

Army medical examiners were suspicious about the close proximity of the three bullet holes in Pat Tillman's forehead and tried without success to get authorities to investigate whether the former NFL player's death amounted to a crime, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.

"The medical evidence did not match up with the, with the scenario as described," a doctor who examined Tillman's body after he was killed on the battlefield in Afghanistan in 2004 told investigators.

The doctors - whose names were blacked out - said that the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away.

Henry Waxman's Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing in late April, nearly three years to the day that Tillman was gunned down in Afghanistan, examining how the military spun the circumstances of Tillman's death (the Pentagon originally claimed Tillman was killed by enemy fire during an ambush). Waxman is not letting the issue drop. He has scheduled a hearing next week that will zero in on what senior Pentagon officials knew about Tillman's death and when they knew it. Among those called to testify is former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. No word yet on whether Rummy will accept the invite, but check back here for coverage of the hearing.

AND BUSH HAS ALREADY CLAIMED "EXEDUTIVE PRIVLIGE" when asked for White House information about Pat Tillman. It doesn't matter if you are a Democratic, Republican or Independent. It doesn't matter if you support the invasion of Iraq or not. Despite our differences, as an American, the Constitution has stood for over two centuries as the defining document of our government, the final source to determine ? in the end ? if something is legal or right. Every federal official ? including the President ? who takes an oath of office swears to "uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States." WE MUST IMPEACH

Sad how we worry about one guy when we have what 750,000 Iraqs murdered for less.

Yes, it is sad. Sadder yet that such an issue is even raised. But with this current administration, nothing is beyond the pale, if it will assist in their plan.
The idea of any member of Shrubs' administration swearing on a Bible, to tell the truth, is laughable.
Swearing on their stock options or hidden slush funds would be more apt.
I know Pats' brother published an open letter about their feelings about this "war".
For those underlings that protect Shrub and the Shootist from reading bad publicity, the idea of an ex-Pro ball player standing up against the war he left his career for, would be real bad news.
Were they able to get any action taken to prevent that? Maybe...but unless the guy who pulled the trigger 'fesses up, we will never know for sure. Especially if we wait for a Shrub Republican to tell the turth.

First of all to Jimmy and his 750,000 Iraqs, was that before or after Sadam? Either way they MUST stand up for themselves to Survive.

If Pat Tillman was murdered WTF concern is that of senate oversight committees which could be investigating far more consequential issues?

I don't know. Did you learn anything?
If so I would guess that it concerned politicians in 1966 failing to heed their constituents calls to investigate the death of a single soldier from around 1961 as though there weren't bigger issues at hand.

i absolutely do not wish to diminish the losses or the efforts of those involved in and directly affected by the so-called "war on terror." But, a simple viewing of the "milestones" or "achieved steps" required by the Bush plan will show that oil was the bottom line. why else would one of those milestones be the signing of a "contract" that would give foreign (mostly U.S.) entities control of Iraq's oil for some 30 years?

the fact that Bush and his cronies used the Tillman death as a tool to both promote the war AND to recruit new soldiers goes beyond reprehensible and immoral. in my mind it is nothing less than evil (look it up). but alas, this is the administration of "the uniter," "family values," and "the decider" (perhaps he meant deciduous, . . . as in being full of 'decisions'), not to mention that of the "environmental president." with these proclamations and the subsequent actions/blunders, coupled with the various exposed political ties, if this doesn't call for impeachment FAR MORE than oral sex and some blue dress, it should be obvious to anyone that the system is flawed BIG-TIME.

again, not to diminish anyone's loss, but we need to dig deep to dissect and remove the root cause.

the current administration has encouraged and supported a political environment in which these policies and tactics can flourish within. be as "conservative" as you can imagine; this is in direct violation of what the founding fathers intended and diametrically opposed to what this country needs and is asking for. the "division" we experience is calculated, man-made, and unnatural in the extreme. differences are rarely if ever black and white; that dichotomy is what we are fed on a daily basis. we are as responsible for its existence as those profitting by it.

we need to inform ourselves and to refuse to accept the pap or the various formulae presented to us by controlled or irresponsible (pronounced "biased") media. in addition, we must adamantly require that our representatives be just that, "representative."

then, and only then, will we be able to call ourselves a responsible democracy.

peace . . .

When Pat Tillman was killed, Sports Illustrated ran a lengthy article about him, his career, and his service. I'm a 61-year-old grandmother with an ever-deepening antipathy to pro sports, but I found myself reading the article with a growing sense that this man was fragged and that it was done to shut him up. He was a smart, dedicated citizen who hoped to someday go into public service. He also was becoming increasingly vociferous about his opinion that the war, especially in Iraq, was a huge mistake and, in his words, highly illegal. Someone of his stature could be expected to sway a lot of people. At this state of affairs vis-a-vis this administration's handling of (name anything), can we any longer profess shock at the idea that a) Pat Tillman was murdered to shut him up and use his death as a recruiting/sales ploy and that b) a long line of characters participated in the cover-up?

I think Sylvia P's version of events is very plausible.
