Dobson Slams Fred Thompson in Private Email
In a long article about how Fred Thompson has lost the evangelical endorsement many expected him to get (in part because Thompson won't sign on with a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage), Politico cites a private email from Focus on the Family honcho James Dobson. Dobson wrote:
Isn't Thompson the candidate who is opposed to a constitutional amendment to protect marriage, believes there should be 50 different definitions of marriage in the U.S., favors McCain-Feingold, won't talk at all about what he believes, and can't speak his way out of a paper bag on the campaign trail?
He has no passion, no zeal and no apparent 'want to.' And yet he is apparently the Great Hope that burns in the breasts of many conservative Christians? Well, not for me, my brothers. Not for me!
Whoa, boy. Dobson sure is cranky. He's already said, "I would not vote for John McCain under any circumstances" and already written, "I cannot, and will not, vote for Rudy Giuliani in 2008."
So that leaves Romney. Or a second-tier guy like Huckabee. Or nobody, I guess.

Bet every bit of my ass it won't be the Mormon he backs.
More likely, he'd throw his support behind whoever the Constitution Party puts up if Romney's the Repub 'chosen one'.
No Jon, that leaves RON PAUL.
Dobson has a big mouth, like Jesse HiJackson, but that is all. People don't listen to him anymore.
Goober, I have pretty serious doubts that Dobson would back any candidate who opposed the War on Drugs, and has said that he doesn't support laws against things like prostitution...
Why is everyone making such a big deal about what Dobson thinks??? Is he your landlord, your boss at work, or do you personally owe him money??? The man is a moron. Accept it and let go.
Unfortunately, people do listen to Dobson, Robertson and the other right wing extremists who have led us down the path to destruction blazed by the neocons. One would think their credibility would be zero, but the kinds of folks who think the world is 6000 years old and that every animal species on earth was accomodated in a homemade boat aren't easily disillusioned. Without the radical redneck Republican religious right Al Gore would be president, we would have taken action against global warming, we'd have a balanced budget, the dollar wouldn't be plummeting, the price of oil wouldn't have trebled and we wouldn't be bogged down in a war in Iraq that has killed over 4000 Americans, maimed thousands more, and killed a million Iraqis at a cost of over 2 trillion dollars.
What is the price of oil?
What is the price of oil? 50 bucks? wow that has tripled huh. Why are there helium atoms in zircon crystals if the earth is 5 billion years old?
