Either Mike Huckabee is Really Bad at Math, or He Has His Facts Wrong
On Sunday, Mike Huckabee said the signers of the Declaration of Independence were "brave people, most of whom, by the way, were clergymen." CQ's Politifact.com says "not so fast":
Only one of the 56 was an active clergyman, and that was John Witherspoon. Witherspoon was a Presbyterian minister and president of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University). . .We'd like to give Huckabee every benefit of the doubt, but even if you consider former clergymen among the signers the best you could come up with is four. Out of 56. That's not "most," that's Pants-on-Fire wrong.
Or he could just be bad at math. See, maybe he was trying to make a point: we need better math education in schools so that presidential candidates will know that you need 29 out of 56 signers to have "most." At least that's what I choose to believe.

Actually, "most" is mostly undefined (sorry, I couldn't help myself). A common interpretation has "most" being equivalent to a "majority", but if that is the case you could just say "a majority". No ambiguity there.
From my standpoint, "most" should indicate some kind of super majority...70,80,or 90 percent.
Just a thought.
Huckabee has a history of ethical lapses followed by outrage when anyone questions him about his habit of accepting as much as he could every time he could belly up to a trough. He also has a very convenient memory when it comes to his efforts to free rapist/killer Wayne DuMond. His environmental record is poor. To borrow from LBJ, Huckabee is a mile wide and an inch deep. The man does not believe in evolution. He couldn't cut a vacation short to return to the state following the Jonesboro school shooting but he did find enough time to write a book about why kids kill in order to profit from it. Ask someone in Arkansas about him and you will understand this article does not come close to touching the reasons to avoid a Huckabee presidency or vice-presidency.
Actually, edna, I work in Arkansas and the vast majority of the people I have talked to like Mike Huckabee and think he did a great job as Governor.

regarding Mr. Huckabee. I know few people (except fundamentalist, right wing persons) who think the "Huckster" was a good governor. Obviously some folks liked him as he was re-elected.
In my opinion, Edna is exactly correct. His environmental record is dismal, he has been fined by the Arkansas Ethics Commission for not disclosing certain income on their reports, he misused the state police airplane for duck hunting and political advancement. He showed a shameless disregard for some 500 children committed to the state juvenile justice agency in order to promote his political career (their occasional escapes and suicides were making him "look bad"). His divisive
views on abortion, gay and lesbian issues, evolution, etc. are deeply troubling. Toward the end of his less than memorable tenure, he assured that he and his wife's names were placed on buildings in Arkansas, including an enormous, reception center addition to the Governor's mansion, named for his wife; the Governor Mike Huckabee Delta Rivers Nature Center and the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center. This was particularly offensive since he was widely known in the Arkansas Conservation Community as anti-environment. He, in fact, called environmentalists,
"Wacko Environmentalists". Arkansas deserved better and so does the United States.
In contrast to Mr. Huckabee,
his wife Janet was an outstanding volunteer working
on many fronts.
