When Exactly Did the 1992 Primary End?
The Clinton campaign will point out from time to time that it is not unusual for primary races to last into the summer. Just last week, Bill Clinton said this in North Carolina:
"All these people that tell you, 'Aw we oughta shut this thing down now the Democrats are so divided' – that's a bunch of bull. I didn't get enough votes to be nominated until June the 2nd, 1992."
As ABC News reports, that's somewhat misleading. While it's accurate that Clinton secured the delegates he needed to win the nomination on the night of the California primary — June 2, 1992 — he effectively wrapped up the nomination after Senator Paul Tsongas dropped out following the Illinois primary.
That was in late-March. Right around now.

I vote in Missouri. This year I was able to vote for someone before they were forced to drop out of the race. How would you like to be a John Edwards supporter and live in Kentucky? I guess you need to move to Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina if you want a chance to participate.
Maybe we should find a way to condense the primary season.
Meanwhile we need to make an effort to sound like we preserve and promote free and fair elections.
PS: I've been a supporter of Obama since he announced he was running. As for the GOPers that cross over to vote for Clinton in primaries they might just get what they wish for.
Anyone who does a little research can see the '92 primaries and the '08 primaries are totally different. In '92 the Iowa caucus was in mid-February, the last primary was in May, and the DNC convention was in June. Now we have the primary season from Jan-June with the convention in August. And, even if you discount Tsongas dropping out in late March, Brown wasn't viable anymore after the NY primary April 7th which left Clinton the presumed nominee in a little less than 2 months. This week we are pushing into month 3 of the '08 primaries and have at least another month to go - clearly quite a long primary season as compared to '92. Bill can say what he wants, but suggesting the two races are similar is pretty ridiculous.
I was already living in France at the time of the 1992 primaries. But I "came home" to the Pittsburh area shortly before the actual election and saw on local television a practically voiceless Bill Clinton rasping out a speech. It seemed so pathetic at that point ... then he won.
As usually, Hillary Clinton does not state the facts honestly. Therefore it is unexcusable for her to make the statement as to why she is staying in. She must complete the primaries to be able to transfer her campaign debt to her senator funds.
Otherwise, at this late date, even a month ago, she had the right to stay in. But what she has done and her husband, with every fiber of their being is to continue to try and cloud the picture of truth and make it seeem like she is the winner and should be the president. She does not have the popular vote...remember...count the caususes also. She cannot get all of the votes from either state.....other candidates received some. We are doing the delegate count not the electorial...her husband did not have some othe those states. And the list continues with each day. An no....she does not deserve a place as VP she has too many mistakes to be the seasoned politician.
