Clintons Release Tax Returns - Here Are Most of the Details
After weeks of pressure from the media and the Obama campaign, the Clintons have released their tax returns from 2000-2007. If you're a financial voyeur, you can read them all in pdf form here.
Over the last eight years, the Clintons have made roughly $109 million, have paid roughly $34 million in taxes, and have donated over $10 million to charity.
The Friday afternoon news dump is usually used to catch the media and its readership/viewership off-guard: nobody writes, reads, or watches much news going into a weekend. But these tax returns have been a hot topic in the presidential race for ages. Much scrutiny will be applied to the sources of the Clintons income over the next several days, primarily because of questions about whether Bill Clinton's worldwide business dealings allow nefarious interests to try and curry favor with the husband of a potential future president.
The Clintons asked for an extension on their 2007 taxes, meaning we don't know what the former President has been up to in the last year. The campaign did list some sources of income, including $150,200 from Senator Clinton's salary and $186,600 from President Clinton's pension. Less transparently, there is also $2,750,000 from unspecified "partnership income" and $400,000 from "advisor income" from a sketchy company called InfoUSA.
On this issue, the Clinton campaign does have a legitimate gripe with the media: reporters have not been good about presuming innocence. That said, the campaign fueled speculation about the tax returns' contents by not releasing them, despite endless calls for them to do so, and not providing a reason for why.
Note: Prior to this, the last time the Clintons released their tax returns (which has been the norm in presidential politics since the 1970s) was in 2000 when they made $416,039. They've certainly seen an income uptick.

Very kind of you to note the presumed fishiness in the media. Perhaps I'm being naiive, but I'm thinking that while delaying things made people more and more suspicious, the increasingly strident calls for their release made the Clintons ever more protective of their (normally private) personal information. They are kinda insular like that. I'm sure the thousands of eyes poring over their forms will make things clear in due time, though.

You will vote for someone based on a charitible donation on a tax return? You do know that donations are also done to reduce the tax burden.
Obama is a pauper compared to the Clinton regime. Look at the lobbyist support for the Clintons. Look at their ties to "the family" and the DLC. To vote based on a tax return without knowing the facts is dumb. But then based on your racist comments what would we expect.

No matter how it's written, or how it's worded, this political race between Hillary Clinton, and Barak Obama, will always be an under cover race issue. Hillary's true self has surfaced, and it is being swept under the rug as best it can be, by being charged to religion, charity donations, and any little thing to throw the real issue off the front page. The Clintons are hypocrites, and the trail behind them gets longer and longer each day. Hill, get out of the way, and let the change happen. You've had your time in the White House.
Bennie, Pastor Manning really understands the Black experience today. You should look at a few of his YouTube videos to get a few to the real experience. Pastor Wright doesn't understand because he was never down for the struggle. Pastor Manning has been in prison. He did not grow up in the good neighborhoods. He grew up in the hood. He knows what it is to be real.
The CHARITY the Clintons gave to was one they OWN. Out of that 10 million they "gave" they have only dispersed 220,000 over the last 7 years. The rest is sitting there earning interest and they get to charge a "fee" to over see it. BUT in 2007 when she decided to run for President they did finally donate 3 mil to charities.
More Clinton crap so go ahead Tanisha and vote for her instead of Obama. That is your right but don't try to use the excuse that his records don't jive. That just shows you are making assumptions without educating yourself on the facts first.
Did you not read the article? Release of tax returns is standard in presidential elections and has been so since the 70's. In fact, Hillary, made release of tax returns an issue against her opponent when she was running for her Senate seat in New York. It is simply amazing that people can be so blinded by race that they go completely stupid!
Obama made 4 million and gave 240 thousand to charity. Thats a little more than 1%..Any moran can look at their tax return. Mother Jones needs to take a math class..then the reporting wouldn't make them look so stupid.
