Arnold Has Had Enough of Your Offshore Drilling Nonsense
Not all environmentally friendly Republicans get along. Here's California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) at the Florida Climate Change Summit in Miami, hosted by Governor Charlie Crist (also R), who recently made a strong bid to save the everglades:
"Politicians have been throwing around all kinds of ideas in response to the skyrocketing energy prices, from the rethinking of nuclear power to pushing biofuels and more renewables and ending the ban on offshore drilling, it goes on and on the list. But, anyone who tells you this will lower our gas prices anytime soon is blowing smoke."
Haha, whoops. John McCain supports offshore drilling because it will help Americans psychologically with high gas prices, and Gov. Schwarzenegger's host, Gov. Crist, recently switched his position to match the party's nominee. For more on offshore drilling, uh, read MoJoBlog.

McCain can say all he wants and it is partially true. There are billions of barrels of reserve oil in the US (off shore and in ANWR). What he does not say is that we are 7 to 12 years from getting that first drop of oil and another 7 to 12 years to realize full production. But those are just stupid little details prepared by silly old scientist.
Also note that 40% of our oil production is domestic and a total of 70% of our oil comes from North America.
To Kirkbrew:
Who says we have billions of barrels of reserve oil in these locations? If it is an absolute known then the oil companies don't need to any exploration, they can just start sinking wells and pumping oil.Are these actual known deposits of fossil fuels or estimates based on preliminary studies? No one will give a straight answer about that very important distinction. If big oil gets more leases and still comes up empty like they are with the areas they already have access to then the price of oil will actually go up even more because they are not simply going to eat the cost.We need a definitive answer from big oil as to whether they will guarantee all of this oil is there or they think it might be there and we should pay to let them just go looking.
Arnold flies 800miles a day in his private jet to work in Sacramento from Santa Monica. Arnold should shut his mouth. He is not in a position to talk.
The lifting costs in North America are much more than the middle east. That is why the oil companies don't pump the oil out here. We need a govt oil company to pump the oil in Alaska and offshore(like in Norway).

Tell that one to Environmental Poster-Boy John Travolta, who owns and flys FIVE private jets, including a Boeing 707, has constructed his own private runway for them, and named his daughter...

Jet, are you his daughter? John Travolta has no creditability amongst the sane.
Nah.
I'm his grandmother.
As to Revolta's credibility, WHO from Hollywood actually enjoys any?
That's not swamp gas I smell coming from the Florida Everglades. It's the pungent aroma of bull excrement that's enveloping newly crowned environmental hero and VP wannabe, Charlie Crist. A couple of days after "saving" the glades from US Sugar, he's set to open Florida's coastlines to some Louisiana-Style oil-drilling. That sweet sugar deal is smelling more like prairie muffins all the time.
