Russia Agrees to Georgia Cease-Fire, Situation Remains Volatile
Just a day after some western and Georgian observers feared that Russia was on the verge of cutting Georgia in half, and may even try to take the Georgian capital Tblisi and demand the country's surrender, Russian president Dmitri Medvedev has agreed to a European-backed cease-fire. But news reports indicate the situation is still volatile and much unclear about how the cease-fire would be implemented, and explosions and violence continue in places including in the Georgian port city of Poti.
"The outcome the West is seeking, will not return things to the [pre-war] status quo," said Russia specialist Stephen Sestanovich of the Council on Foreign Relations in a conference call yesterday. "A ceasefire under these circumstances offers a sitution in which Georgia could be occupied by Russian forces, and Georgia could be cut in two, dismembered."
"Is this a game changer?" asked Council on Foreign Relations' Charles Kupchan. "Is it possible to think about the US-Russian relationship moving forward looking somewhat like it's done in the past, where there were good days and bad days, but it was basically respectful and trying to make the best of a difficult situation? I can't answer that. It's too soon. But it's safe to say from here on out, the US and allies will look at Russia more warily."

What is also certain is that the guns of August 2008 have in a matter of a few days significantly changed the world we live in. It is now clear to almost everyone that Russian objectives go well beyond the issue of the ethnically Russian citizens of South Ossetia. Moscow's swift military gambit clearly includes "regime change" for the entire nation of Georgia.
That is important not simply because Georgia's democratically elected president, Mikhail Saakashvili, is far more pro-western than his eventual Russian-picked successor will be, but also because it sends a clear message throughout the region that Russia can do what it pleases—and that the United States is too weak, too overstretched, too unpopular, and too weary from years of failed international exploits to act.

John McCain wants to push for Georgia's NATO membership.
So there are only two more things that stand between us and a treaty obligation to defend a semi-crazy Georgian president after he had the wisdom to fire rockets at Russian troops: the November elections and a veto of our sane NATO allies.
For crying out loud, how many of us should we send to die so that Saakashvili can repress a few thousand Ossetians and Abkhazians???
McCain speaks about the need to defend the security of free people -- the Georgians. How about the Ossetians and Abkhazians who have aspirations to live the way of their choosing as well?
It was a huge war which were going between Russian President Dmitri and Georgia President Mikheil Saakashvili. At last of six days of intensive fighting, they declared that its mission had been accomplished and agreed to a ceasefire proposal tabled in Moscow by the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy. I must say that there is no use of war so don't fighting ever.

Am I supposed to believe that our intelligence agencies missed the Russian troop movements in the days leading up to the invasion of Georgia and that Bush decided to attend the Olympics while a potential NATO member's sovereignty was violated?
That sounds an awful lot like his staged photo-op at the elementary school on the morning of 9/11.

I smell the stench of the Bilderberg...
1) Ossetia is a ninety percent Russian area. Georgia has made repeated efforts to ethnically cleanse the region. Russian peacekeeping troops have been in Ossetia for years and were approved in international agreements so as to protect the citizens of the region from attacks by the Georgian military.
2) Georgia, not Russia, started this war. Georgia invaded Ossetia trying to take control of the region and ethnically cleanse the Russian population.
3) The Georgian Army, commanded by their Minister of Defense (who is also an Israeli citizen), launched a surprise invasion and attack that caused the deaths of at least a thousand people in its first 24 hours. This attack was committed while the attention of the world was on the Olympics.
4) In the wake of Georgia's military invasion and massacres, Russia responded by battling to protect the Ossetian people and fighting the Georgia military so it could not continue its invasion and assault. Thousands of Ossetian civilians became refugees from the Georgian assault.
OBAMA EXPOSES SCHEUNEMANN'S MARXIST TACTICS
Neo-Con McCain's foreign policy adviser, Neo-Marxist Scheunemann, is notorious for his role in successfully provoking the War against Iraq; and his failure to provoke total war against Iran, and his failure to defeat Russia in Ab-khazia and S. Os-setia. The illegal and un-patriotic Neo-Con Bush Iraq War sacrificed over a trillion dollars and the priceless lives of more than 4,000 young patriotic volunteers, for the sole benefit of the World condemned Judeofascist Israeli land robbers.
When Obama discovered that Scheunemann had been paid nearly $300,000 by Saak-ash-vili to provoke bellicose American opposition to Russia, in collusive support of Georgia's bloody military offensive against ethnic Russian Georgians, he exposed this conflict of interest as motivating McCain's insane outbursts of bellicose treasonous deception, "John McCain's top foreign policy adviser lobbied for, and has a vested interest in, the Republic of Georgia and McCain has mirrored the position advocated by the government."
That Neo-Con Bush now demands a billion dollars from Congress, to compensate Saak-ash-vili for starting his utterly disastrous war, suggests that this was part of the crooked deal. Tragically, these high crimes might get the Georgians a billion dollars in exchange for Ab-khazia and S. Os-setia, and burden the Americans with greater debt and inflation.
