Leaked Text of Obama's Notre Dame Degree?
President Barack Obama's scheduled appearance at Notre Dame's commencement on Sunday has caused a fuss, with antiabortion activists and students promising they will protest. One of those leading this effort, Randall Terry, a longtime, controversial, and extreme anti-abortion crusader, claims he's obtained a leaked copy of the text of the honorary degree Obama will receive. In a press release he zapped out on Thursday morning, Terry said the text had been given to him by "someone connected with Notre Dame" whom he would not identify, and he published the purported text:
The University of Notre Dame Confers the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, on the 44th president of the United States, whose historic election opened a new era of hope in a country long divided by its history of slavery and racism. A community organizer who honed his advocacy for the poor, the marginalized and the worker in the streets of Chicago, he now organizes a larger community, bringing to the world stage a renewed American dedication to diplomacy and dialogue with all nations and religions committed to human rights and the global common good. Through his willingness to engage with those who disagree with him and encourage people of faith to bring their beliefs to the public debate, he is inspiring this nation to heal its divisions of religion, culture, race and politics in the audacious hope for a brighter tomorrow.
On Barack H. Obama, Washington, District of Columbia"
Remember when Sarah Palin mocked Obama's days as a community organizer? Well, if this text is real, she's certainly at odds with the poohbahs of this major Catholic university, who tie Obama's past work for the poor to his current endeavors as president.
Of course, this text has outraged Terry. He says, "This degree reeks of the harlotry spirit shown by a teenage girl who is about to throw away her honor with a pervert. The fact that Obama promotes abortion around the world makes him the adversary—not the champion—of the 'global common good.'"
He ought to be mad. With this explanation of Obama's honorary degree, Notre Dame is giving much credit to Obama's self-proclaimed effort to transcend the seemingly never-ending debates of the culture wars. For Terry and his comrades, that's a heavy dose of salt for their wounds. The text—if accurate—is a tremendous endorsement of a liberal president who supports abortion rights and civil unions. It's a big win in the culture wars for Obama.

"The fact that Obama
"The fact that Obama promotes abortion around the world makes him the adversary—not the champion—of the 'global common good.'"
What a load of crap. When has Pres. Obama promoted abortion? These folks are nuts, and easy to ignore.
I don't think Pres. Obama's position on abortion - a reasoned and sensible position - compares at all to the outrageousness of the catholic churchs pedophillia scandal and the actions they took to cover it up. Hypocrits.
Randall Terry
Randall Terry's vocabulary is a disturbing insight into his tortured psyche. What kind of buffon assembles a single sentence using the words "harlotry," "teenage girl," and "pervert" to describe an honorary degree. While I applaud Terry for adopting three foster children, the wake of turmoil in his own life suggests a troubled soul.
Randy Terry
Randy Terry and his first wife, Cindy, adopted three African-American children nearly 25 years ago. He is estranged from his son because the young man is gay. I have no idea what his continued contacts are with the other two adoptees, both female, nor with his birth-daughter from that first marriage. The divorce was pretty ugly and I don't know if Cindy remarried. I have lost track of whether Terry's current wife is his second or his third, and whether there are other birth children. Despite all of this family upheaval, he converted to catholicism a few years ago, which I am sure gives him standing to protest President Obama at Notre Dame. He certainly doesn't understand what Obama brings to healing and building up the nation torn by the likes of this media hound.
Next we'll hear there are coded messages in the weather forecast
I now await Randall Terry's analysis of the generic Mother's Day card text from Hallmark from the card that Obama no doubt got for Michelle and probably for his mother-in-law: "Happy Mother's Day!!!" What blatant hypocrisy! What cryptic evil in just those three words! And so on.
He really left us for the aluminum foil hat brigade quite a few years ago.
The students at ND think Randall Terry is an idiot
My daughter just completed her first year at Notre Dame. She reports that the vast majority of students support President Obama's appearance and honorary degree. The anti-abortion protesters have embarrassed and alienated the student body with their stunts including pushing carriages with baby dolls dripped in red paint through the campus and flying a banner over the campus with a picture purportedly of an aborted baby. I'm not sure what Mr. Terry and his supporters hope to achieve. They certainly aren't changing anyone's mind on the abortion issue. In fact, one could say Mr. Terry is exploiting abortion for his own personal glory and fame. What a dick.
I thought this guy was dead...
or at least in Jail by now... what a jerk...
But we can't ignore his ignorance... or it will come back to haunt us.
Who gives a shit about Notre Dame?
I mean, lets be honest here. They used to have an awesome football team. Big whoop. These days they aren't even the best Catholic football team. They certainly aren't the best Catholic academic institution. In summary, who gives a shit?
Sincerely, someone who went to a different overrated and overpriced uni.

go to jail.
Seperation of church an state
Although Notre Dame is a cathelic university, does not give a educational facility the right to block other view points. Cathelics can not control education an must stay out of politics. They can teach their beliefs, but must open up for discussion of other beliefs. They cannot try to be exclusive in religeon and insist not other view point is a value to the american people. If they do that, We could have Baptist,Methodest,Jewish,Johovah wittness and etc. saying they have a right to teach only their view point, education beliefs and etc. at any school they build or support. You can object, and let everyone know your objections. So, be it! We all have opinion (I hope), and we differ often with our neighbors/friends/relatives. That is part of life, an your fight to live with in your beliefs. But don't try to force your beliefs on others, or the young minds being educated for the world. Allow them to form their own beliefs. I think we have a cragiouse president who spoke well at Arizona Univ. after that contriversy, an I believe he will be just as kind to those at Notre Dame who doesn't always see his view points. But, we can never learn or change or work together if we don't listen, an have tolerance of others.
Last I heard
... South Bend was still in the US and the Catholicks there were American citizens whose President is Barack Hussein Obama. If you don't recognize these things, I believe that's called treason. No one elected the Pope president you know.

If Obama can push through "Cap and Trade" and people think it's a Carbon Tax and don't reject it - well that means that he can tack on a Carbon Tax too, doesn't it? And if people do turn against it, then dems can depict Republicans as liars and extremists, which in either event is true.tiffany jewelry
