Man's Video Plea for Public Option
Dittoheads and Fox News watchers are understandably wary of any public healthcare option, given the misinformation shoved down their throats on a daily basis. (President Obama tries to dispel some of the myths here.) Part of people's fear, as explained by The New Yorker's James Surowiecki in the latest issue, can be explained by our innate tendency to assign an irrationally high value to something already in our possession—like our often crappy and expensive health insurance plans. But people really need to reflect on this stuff and not let fear and misinformation win out. Consider: What if you have a health problem that's covered through your employer, but you want to switch jobs? Will your new employer's insurance plan accept you? What if you're a freelance or contract worker? Or part-time? Or full-time without bennies? Or you got laid off? That's a lot of what-ifs, especially in the current economy. The bottom line, for anyone with a preexisting condition who isn't insured, is that you're pretty well screwed. Today, Boingboing.net, where you'll always learn something interesting, featured the personal Youtube video below. I think this guy sums up the whole issue pretty articulately—even if the majority of those (nearly) 50 million uninsured don't yet have a preexisting condition. Well, at least that they know of.

Nice way to twist words.
Nice way to twist words. Limbaugh does NOT recommend sending sick people without healthcare to Canada. What he is saying is that the healthcare proposed by Obama would be the same as the care you would get if you lived in Canada, which is horrible or none at all.

You are either more stupid than a box of rocks, or, you are a liar! Have you ever had health care in Canada? Have you ever had health care outside the United States? I would like to know what kind of health care you have and if you are insured or not. I am a Medicare Recipient, I spent 20+ years of my life in the United States Navy, and earned every moment of that health care. I immigrated to French Polynesia in the late 70's and have had Socialized Medicine by the French and my medicare did NOT count for one centime of payment for my or my families doctors care or medicines. It wasn't until I returned to the country of my birth in the late 90's to provide health care for my mother that I found out just how shabby your medicare is and how much you are being ripped off by the insurance companies and your government. I was diagnosed with both skin and colon cancer at the VA Hospital in Portland Oregon, and even though my hospital bills were paid I still had to pay for my medicines. In France I pay NOTHING for anything and as a cancer victim, I am covered for the rest of my life in all respects, doctors, medicines, hospitalization, travel to and from along with living expenses if I have to leave the island I live on.
There is a reason that you are on the bottom of the ladder in health care in the industrialized world, and it is the Republican Conservatives who want to keep you poor and ignorant... And by the way they are doing a bang up job on that. Take it from an ex american who is looking back in to the country... Makes me glad to be a socialist....... At least we get good care and education... Your banana republic is augering itself into the ground faster than you think.... Fascistan there you go!!!!
Just this old Chief's 2 cents!!!
