Following the eviction of the homeless from Dinkinsville, the residents’ possessions are flattened and destroyed. October 15, 1991
In the end, the Tompkins Square Park resistance failed. Following the violence of the 1991 Memorial Day riot, which included the looting of a Pakistani immigrant’s store, the park was forcefully closed for over a year. After its reopening, the nighttime curfew was enforced. The resistance movement quickly waned.
