Inside Cheney's Office

As Dick Cheney's approval ratings plummet to a mere 18%, the American Prospect investigates what makes the man who is only "a heartbeat away from the presidency" tick. But that's easier said than done when the VP and his staff are so secretive that they don't even maintain an employee directory. According to the Prospect, until the Valerie Plame leak, "outside the Washington cognoscenti, it's a safe bet that not one in a hundred Americans could name a single Cheney aide."

[Cheney's] press people seem shocked that a reporter would even ask for an interview with the staff. The blanket answer is no -- nobody is available. Amazingly, the vice president's office flatly refuses to even disclose who works there, or what their titles are. "We just don't give out that kind of information," says Jennifer Mayfield, another of Cheney's "angels." She won't say who is on staff, or what they do? No, she insists. "It's just not something we talk about."
Col. Larry Wilkerson, a former top aide to Colin Powell, portrays the vice president's office as the source of a zealous, almost messianic, approach to foreign affairs. "There were several remarkable things about the vice president's staff," he says.
One was how empowered they were, and one was how in sync they were. In fact, we used to say about both [Rumsfeld's office] and the vice president's office that they were going to win nine out of ten battles, because they are ruthless, because they have a strategy, and because they never, ever deviate from that strategy ... They make a decision, and they make it in secret, and they make in a different way than the rest of the bureaucracy makes it, and then suddenly foist it on the government -- and the rest of the government is all confused."
As the Bush administration considers an attack on Iran, Cheney's secretive office is likely again to be at the forefront of internal policy debates.

Why is this even accepted and allowable? Cheney works for America and should be forced to be accountable.
I dont understand how and why he gets to have his own kingdom in our World.
please explain this too me....

Nadine, it appears you are awakening. Good morning!

Ma'am, I am grieved yet honored to be the one to inform you of this. Your confusion and questions are well-founded and you are a better person for having asked. This is what the Web is best used for.

Ma'am, we no longer live in an America wherein the Government is even remotely of, by, and especially *for* the People. (That's Abe Lincoln's brand of Republicanism.) Mr. Cheney does not "work for" We the People. Mister Cheney, who has a very bad heart in every sense of the term, in In Business for Mister Cheney. Nobody else.

Fact is, we haven't had an honest, for-the-People Republican administration since Dwight David Eisenhower warned us all to "Beware the Military-Industrial Complex". His very words. I do remember how his voice sounded as he warned us all on the Radio, on his way to make rooom for Mister Kennedy.

Ma'am, today we have the Bush Corporate War Industries Group (I've dubbed the lot of 'em "BushCo WIG" because that's easier to say, plus I tend to find those Ivy League college boys are 'way wiggy clowns as well) running the nationwide American Governance Show. It is really quite similar to those newfangled "Reality TeeVee" timewasters and infomercial shows that I don't bother watching now at all. And Ma'am, I am sorry, but the clang between what you learned in your "Civics and American Government" classes in school and what you correctly percieve as operating in this world today is well-based in sound human instinct. No American public school or college could (or would) have prepared you for living in a corporate-directed American imperial regime.

Studies abroad might have helped. Especially the time spent *outside* the lecture hall.

Worse for us all, this NeoCon bunch clearly does not even care whether the trains run on time or fall off the bridge into the river - passengers, freight, and all. None of 'em have ever actually had to Make Do Without any single thing in their lives, /ever./ That absence of ground-level perspective on Life, the Universe, and Everything has quite evidently led them all to believe that they are able to do Just Anything with exactly No Consequence. So far as the rest of the "Free World" and just about all of the "Third World" is concerned, America is now a fullscale global rogue empire-state, ruthlessly operated by a cannibal criminal elite.

As for you and me: Well, Ma'am, to Mister Cheney and his ilk we are mere cockroaches, there are too may of us for their comfort, and they themselves are positionied like Tom DeLay started out - they would gladly be our exterminators if we let 'em. The prison camps are already built, and more on the way - new Halliburton/KBR prison camp construction contracts went out last month. Huge crematorium out in central Indiana, too.

America has been found to be operating well in excess of 500 secret prisons worldwide. (You know of Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib, of course.) Too many to picket, all fireproof concrete or equivalent. Some are built below surface-level and are not readily noticed at all by passers-by. Can't burn 'em down.

It is properly called "corporatism". American corporatism as it exists today cheerfully violates every article of the US Constitution on its way to The Bank. Then it comes out for torture and slavery even on our own sweet shores, full-force military raids on private citizens' homes (which is called a "Posse Comitatus" and no you don't ever want to meet one even in the daylight), and a steady driving-down of wages for those of us who still believe in an honest day's work and an honest living wage duly tendered for same.

All of this is done, one finds, in the name of a war on the very human behavior that this very crew deliberately foments and seed-funds all over the globe so's to reap the gigantic war contracts that follow. You know - the Iraq invasion and simultaneous "War on Terror" here at home. Saddam was a Great Friend of America until he fell out of favor. First he got armed, then we knocked him off like bird poop. As for Osama-Gone-Fishing... Now, that's a tale to follow.

General Smedley D. Butler (USMC) figured this corporate war racket out after some few foreign adventires adventures here and there. Later he saved FD Roosevelt's New Deal administration from an armed corporate coup plot. Had it not been for General Butler, none of us might have even one thin dime's worth of social security. Google his name and read his essay. War is a racket. Mr. Cheney is a classic racketeer.

Ma'am, corporatism works the farm at the greatest profit because the corporatist farmer neither pays his due taxes nor feeds his horse. Instead he works the starving mare to her miserable death under the lash, then goes out and steals his neighbor's well-fed beast to finish his plowing/planting/etc.

It is all about gaining both the power and the advantage to commence bleeding the Rest of Us dry, then forcing the survivors of the "accidental" population reduction to manufacture more highly profitable war goods as literal prison slaves. Plain and simple. Just the way it is. To be quite blunt, by normal US law and common sense it is a close-knit team of criminal assholes that has arisen to be above us, the law, and all else on Earth.

The Wagnerian Ring Cycle holds certain obscure resemblances to this present-day situation. So do Tolkien's works. Ditto Puss in Boots. (Visit http://www.en.Wikipedia.org for a good article on that strangely familiar French folk take.)

Since it seems that you really might want to understand better for yourself how the monstrosity that Ike warned us all against Back Then actually works, hit

http://www.informationclearinghouse.org

to gauge the rim of the rabbit-hole. You shall be treated to reputable authors and reliable documents. Read the pages linked-to in the yellow section at the top of the home page first, and be quite certain that you pick up all the dots you can absorb at one sitting. Then return again in a day or three and read again, then read a little more. You might be spending some time catching up.

Given that your system's multimedia player is up to spec, there is a ton of video for you there too. Scroll down the left-hand column. The movies seem to cover the entire spectrum of the situation. They make matters plenty plain and verifiable, that is a fact. Some folk have been documenting the infamy for quite a few years now, post-Reagan.

You are sure to want a wheel-mouse if you haven't one already.

Time for us all to learn anew. This is not a Chicken Little situation. There is no tinfoil in my hat. Them boys are on paper (Google "PNAC" and read between the tears) as being out to (might as well say) set the very sky on fire. Radioactive fire. (Hit http://www.notinkansas.us for the full scoop on that one.) At an obscene profit for themselves, and NOTHING for the Rest of Us.

These men are criminals. Master criminals. And criminal masters too. Just like Wagner's Siegfried or Tolkien's Sauron. Make no mistake.

To plunge dead straight fwooom down that rabbit-hole's shaft, hit http://www.tomflocco.com. Mr. Flocco is a well-respected Federal whistleblower with a strong track record of Constition-defense to his credit. He and fellow whistleblower Tom Hennigan ran for the Presidency in 2004 on the Reform Party ticket. (You and I both know how far they got on the first try already, but dammit, they put their all into it.)

Their campaign Web site is still online; Google a bit and it'll pop up. (You do Google OK, don't you, Ma'am?) Read their campaign platform planks.

Do not depend on the Telly-Vision to steer you aright with regard to these matters. All that newsy, sexytruthy Flash Gordon infoflash is 100% bought and paid for. By internationally indictable global criminals. No fooling.

Survival skills are likely to rise to a premium value within the next ten years unless something changes PDQ, I do find. One must do all one can, no joke.

I am sorry that there is this pain. The only thing worse is becoming numb. I felt that way too, a few months back when Cindy Sheehan made her debut in Crawford. That's when I first started asking myself what to key into Google to get myself a healthy grasp of the matter's truth.

On the bright side, here is a Good One. Google on one key word: "Failure". The result may surprise you. (He has been "Google-bombed" by some fine-handed Web hackers.)

So you are not alone in this. Keep reaching out; the darkness is only an artificially manufactured corporate product. Rent the "Matrix" movie trilogy for another allegorical corollary if you have not done so already.

Perspective is key; clarity is always refreshing. Triangulate. Educate yourself. John 8:32 still applies.

And kindly do take up to pray for peace, too, will you please? We had postage stamps that asked us to do that once, long ago. Now the churchmen lead their flocks in prayers for war. You know that ain't right.

God is still Good. Just don't say it in Arabic to any American President until this fustercluck is well resolved. This ain't the first time Creator's good name has been hijacked by criminals out for a buck at any price. And we of a better heart and spirit than the Thule 322 Bonesmen in our White House (another rich Google, BTW) are not at all entirely dead quite yet.

Ma'am, I'm only a funny-hatted "Crazy Injun" when you see me on the street. But my present-day Nation's ruddy ancestors gave General Washington our own Cherokee and Iroquois Nation's core document as models for what we had and enjoyed as Americans until most recently. His kind still thinks the white man was the first on "Turtle Island" to use written language. I think his education is incomplete, but he certtainly is 'way too busy making his money to stop and smell what he's handing us for Shinola.

Ma'am, it really is My World Too, no matter how Mister Cheney's secretive krew of blood thugs throws it. Likewise yours as well. It's all we have, really.

Thank you and goodnight.

Two items post-posting. One correction, one addition.

1) Stew Webb and Tom Hennigan ran on the 2004 Reform Party ticket, not Flocco & Hennigan as I absent-mindedly wrote. (So occupied was I, keeping tabs on the Bad Guys while writing, that I got my Good Guys beshuffled a notch) One would hope to find Mr. Flocco filling a Cabinet post in any Webb/Hennigan Administration. (Please take the job, Mr. Flocco. Oh, please DO...) {:-)o<

2) This link will take the reader to one easy-reading and well-written account of the corporatist near-coup on FDR:

Kindly do include this link when passing this info on to others who seek understanding.
