Carol Fisher case suggests pattern of law enforcement/judicial irregularities
Here is some additional information on the Carol Fisher case, supplied by the Cleveland Indy Media Center. Apparently, the usual time between arrest and indictment in Fisher's county is two months, but the time for her was eight days. Also, Ohio law requires that service of an indictment must be made at least 24 hours prior to arraignment; Fisher's notice was served to her attorney the morning of her arraignment (the attorney decided to waive right to protest). Though these facts in themselves are not particularly newsworthy, the existence of such irregularities--one of them illegal--only serve to strengthen the argument that Fisher was treated unfairly because of her political beliefs and her unwillingness to be quiet about them.
Fisher was accused of attacking police officers. She agrees that she was in a physical struggle with them, and she says it is because they were hurting her with the cuffs. This type of incident happens rather frequently; the person in question is then charged with either resisting arrest or assault on a police officer--or both.
At this point, there is still no reason to question the veracity of Fisher, especially since Cleveland Heights is a known hotbed of "liberal trouble-making" in the city. A group of Cleveland Heights citizens went to the Cleveland Heights City Council to protest what happened to Fisher, to vouch for her character, and to testify that they saw her brutalized by the police.
These witnesses, referred to earlier by this blogger, were not identified because I could not find their names and their individual statements, only a general statement in the Cleveland press that there were witnesses. I have now found them, and their statements can be read here.

*Rant On*
I have lived in Cleveland the majority of my life, and was raised in the Heights. I can say that the police certainly can be abrasive and they rarely answer questions like "why?" I should emphasize that I describe myself as a true blue Liberal, although on the Democratic Libertarian side, not the Authoritarian Communist.
The reporting on this case has been exceedingly biased. An indymedia article claimed that none of the testifying non-police "witnesses saw 'the assault'". I contacted Fisher's Lawyer and got this as part of the response:
"... In addition to the two police officers who arrested Carol, there were 4 civilian witnesses who testified as to various observations regarding segments of the incident. Three of them said she was out of control and fighting with the police. There were all kinds of inconsistencies but the tone of the witnesses was that she was definitely in the wrong and resisting... "
And then other liberals wonder at the claims of "liberal media bias". Pathetic.
As to time between indictment and arraignment, checking the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, the indictment did happen rapidly (which I think is a good thing) and the arraigment happed 2 WEEKS later.
Now, I am all about free speech, seriously. But this case only has something to do with personal politics because Carol Fisher cannot shut up about hers. She happens to belong to a Maoist Revolutionary Party (read Maoist as Violent Authoritarian), but that is not the point. This case is about a woman breaking a law, refusing to comply with police instructions, resisting arrest, and being handled roughly in order to subdue her. SHE BIT A POLICE OFFICER. Carol Fisher is being sent for psychiatric evaluation as she cannot put seperate her political beliefs from the fact that she did something illegal and that law enforcement agents are less than kind to criminals. She was offered pleas to misdemeanor charges, and refused.
She is trying to use a court case to further her political agenda, when the case truly has nothing to do with politics. It is simple law and order, not evidence of the growing Orwellian Police State (which needs to be dealt with in rational manners, so as not to polarize this nation more).

1st.. as the title implies... where is the pattern of law enforcement/judicial irregularities ?
2nd.
True, I wish there was a video of the incident. That way, it would show exactly what all the witnesses said. Carol was asked nicely to take down the signs multiple times, she refused, actually stapling up a poster right in the officer's face...saying"i can post anything i want, it is not illegal" Then refused to give her ID, which she did have. She then swung at the officer knocking his hat off. I really do wish a camera was there, then the court could add perjury to her felonious assault charges... i am mean biting someone.... come on.
before you people post this crap, read the court transcripts that are available to the public. if you people want to be so involved with the case, take the time to get the court records and read the facts.

I believe the police as much as I believe the lying government.
I am still waiting for the WMD's
I am still waiting for real criminals to be in jail,
Not sign staplers!
So you read some lies in a court paper.
You get a good citizen Brownie for being a good sheeple.
I question authority and their cover up lies
I don’t believe or trust our police or government
It is a good thing that it is only the war mongers and police, that back up what they believe in with weapons and force and violence.
At least a sign stapler is now locked up and Cleveland is safeer.
Were they asking her "nicely as they crushed her face into the cement?

Boy can't you just feel the LOVE especially from some who:
1) Want To Encourage War
2) Support Illegal Invasions
3) Jailing Telephone Sign Poster
4) Support Cops Hurting Women
5) Suggesting if you don't like it to move the f* out?
I prefer to stick around and DEMAND some Ethics and.... some Constitutional Respect.
Just to make my own good point.
The same as Carol is doing!

so.. Carol drinks a ton of water to try and dilute her urine sample... no way.. hippies dont smoke dope.
FROM THE COURT: DEFENDENT IS HEREBY RE-REFERRED FOR DRUG TEST PRIOR TO SENTENCING HEARING ON JUNE 2, 2006 DUE TO THE "TOO DILUTE" ORIGINAL DRUG TEST RESULTS.
Carol also gets to waste more tax payer money:
DEFENDANT TO PARTICIPATE AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE ANGER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM.
I have some dishes you can wash Carol, and...there are still alot of posters up on telephone poles, why don't you start by taking them down, especially those damn anti-bush signs:
COURT WILL CONSIDER MODIFYING COUNTY JAIL SANCTION IF DEFENDANT WORKS AS TRUSTEE IN KITCHEN OR PROPOSES ACCEPTABLE COMMUNITY SERVICE PLAN TO COURT.
let us know how your vacation was !!

funny how WCW says is costs $2000 for the trial transcripts "What you can do: *Funds urgently needed for the appeal, including about $2000 to get the trial transcript."
the reality is, they want donations to pay for Carol Fisher's court fee of: COURT COST ASSESSED CAROLYN G FISHER BILL AMOUNT *2556.24* PAID AMOUNT 70 AMOUNT DUE *2486.24*
trial transcripts are $20-$40

While conflicting accounts are quite often the case in police brutality incidents, what's scary is how it would certainly seem that the media, ect. has rewritten the Rodney King story...
How is it possible that the pertinent police reports state that a drunk King led them on a high-speed chase reaching speeds of 115 mph, such he was originally charged with felony evading, however all charges were all later dropped. Like how difficult would it have been to compare the time of the original stop versus how much time it took for the chase to come to an end... Either the cops were guilty of filing a false report (a felony) or King was guilty of felony evading.
