Army Morale: "It sucks."
"Think of what you hate most about your job. Then think of doing what you hate most for five straight hours, every single day, sometimes twice a day, in 120-degree heat," [said Army Staff Sgt. Jose Sixtos in Baghdad]. "Then ask how morale is."Frustrated? "You have no idea." [...]
"It sucks. Honestly, it just feels like we're driving around waiting to get blown up. That's the most honest answer I could give you," said Spec. Tim Ivey, 28, of San Antonio.
Interestingly, though, a recent Stars and Stripes survey found that two-thirds of U.S. troops serving in Iraq say they believe the cause they're fighting for is worthwhile. But: "Responses appeared to track with military rank. Eight-eight percent of senior officers, for example, ranked both unit and personal morale as high or very high. Among junior enlisted servicemembers, 49 percent rated unit morale as high or very high and 66 percent gave that same rating to their own personal morale."
Oddly, fifty-five percent called the mission in Iraq "very clear." Perhaps they could fill us in...?

Well, I don't accept your terminology, but how do you explain that the mission is EVEN CLEARER to the (highly educated) officer class, whose morale is correspondingly higher? And as to your question...how about every social revolution in human history?

Why do you assume peasant means "uneducated"; "peasant" is a behavior. Officers are highed educated people who are also (generally) authority worshippers, hence mostly libertarian or fascist ("republican" in this country). The mission of any "republican" authority worshipper is prove (or die trying) that daddy is right (daddy substitutes for god, king, and country - in this case). THAT mission is always clear to an authority worshipper (you liberal/socialist mommy authority worshippers, btw, have attempted to prove (or die trying) that the bottom dwelling slime are worth helping, despite evidence to the contrary. And, THAT mission is clear also.) Hence, an authority worshipper peasant's "mission" is to NEVER question authority (royality - THE party they follow).
And, as daddy (or mommy) is never wrong, moral is "higher" as the "mission" is clear (or they'll happily die trying).
Who was it that said "A true patriot is one who sacrifices their kids for their country."? Substituting terms, we'd come up with "A true 'peasant believer' is one who sacrifices their kids for their daddy's/mommy's party".
Revolutions are not started by peasants. The peasants get killed. The leaders(?) "We're rigth behind ya dudes!! Power to the people dudes. Make sure you leave me the telephone number of your girlfriend too, dude!" What's dumber than a pack of male peasants?

I'd be curious to know what those 55 percent think the "mission" is too. Still whatever the mission really is, it's having only tragic results. The high ranking officers who rank morale as high are either idiots or removed from reality.

One other thing...I am the former wife of an Army officer. The LAST thing in the world the military wants is for its people to look at issues critically. Brainwashing is the key.

The "mission" is never questioning their God, King, and Country. Most of these guys are from the peasant class. Have the peasants EVER - anytime in history - questioned their "mission"?
You liberals need to hang more with the peasants you are so desperate to help.
