Neo-Nazis and Other Dangerous Extremists Infiltrating the Military
Oh, great.
Under pressure to meet wartime manpower goals, the U.S. military has relaxed standards designed to weed out racist extremists. Large numbers of potentially violent neo-Nazis, skinheads and other white supremacists are now learning the art of warfare in the armed forces.Department of Defense investigators estimate thousands of soldiers in the Army alone are involved in extremist or gang activity. "We've got Aryan Nations graffiti in Baghdad," said one investigator. "That's a problem."
So says a new report out from the Southern Poverty Law Center, which says these guys--whose numbers could run into the thousands--are "using their military training to fight wars at home."
Just to give you some flavor...one neo-Nazi, quoted in the report, says, "Join only for the training, and to better defend yourself, our people, and our culture. We must have people to open doors from the inside when the time comes." Another observes, "We have pride in our race, heritage, and culture, and we will do anything to prevent it from being destroyed. White man is the creator, the creator of civilizations."

Indeed not. And if you go to the SPLC report you'll read quotes and see photos you'll find even less funny. And the notion that these people are out there in Iraq! It's not as if even the decent, professional US troops out there are winning a whole lot of hearts and minds as it is...

I think the suffering the U.S. is inflicting on other people will eventually "return" to American society. This is not something to gloat about, but I guess you have been looking for it. The greatest paradox may be that the U.S. -being so paranoic about foreigners- will have its nemesis in these neo-nazi groups.

I am a disabled service man.
I am out raged, and disappointed to hear that the gov would let people of bad character join the service.
I have heard about cases where the recruiter has cleaned up arrest records to comply with the existing rules and regulations.
I have heard about the navy fixing a felon up to join.
Bring home our troops and we wont have this problem.

Not to worry. By the time they are discharged, if ever, they will all be neo-cons, or else.

McVeigh was ex-army. This is really dangerous stuff. Particularly considering these people are working alongside different races in intense conditions, and particularly considering incidents like the Haditha killings. And all the other ghastly stuff, much of it possibly unreported. And what of the neo-Nazi influence on other uneducated and impressionable young troops?

Racism is ingrained in America. We have sustained a few at the expense of many since the birth of this nation. There is only hate here.

The neo nazis are not all that different from the nazi-fascist neocons including southerners who dominate and control the Repub party. Bush is a southerner and the entire Repub party has been southernized by Kevin Phillips during the Nixon Repub admin when he was a Nixon political strategist, all according to his own testimony and writings.
The Repub party is the party of hate and divisiveness and has done much to fracture the fabric of our culture. Once the culture is damaged the America I love will cease to exist.
We are already well along that path due to the hate, war and fear mongering of Karl Rove and Dick Morris et.al. The Dems have been stripped of all political power and the MSM has been very effectively silenced. Our system of 'Checks and Balances' is no more.
The Baptist and Catholic theocrats must get out of controlling American domestic and foreign policy because they force it along religious lines. Just as the Islamic jihadists are detrimental to peace in the world so too are the Baptist and Catholic jihadists.
Just as the pope said almost nothing about the holocaust during WWII the past and current popes say almost nothing about the killing of middle east peoples especially muslims, who are also children of God and equal in His sight. But the Baptist and Catholics (both fundamentalist religions) who control our government just seem to forget that, and they claim to be pro-life while killing others.
When 9/11 occurred America had the sympathy of the entire world now it has very little sympathy around the world. At that time the jihadists were but a small flame but Bush and the Repubs just had to throw gas on that small flame and now just look at what the world has become.
Bush, the nazi unamerican, should have quietly gone after Bin Laden who should be in jail for the rest of his life. Were Bin Laden tried and jailed right after 9/11 there would be far less strife in the world. Thanks to Rumsfeld with the support of Bush and Cheney Bin Laden is still on the loose.
So why should anyone be surprised that the neo nazis have joined the military they are just another hate group and the Republican party thrives on sowing the seeds of hate.
Another example is what Dick Morris did during the Mexican elections by sowing seeds of hate about Obrador which resulted in Calderon coming from relative obscurity to win the presidency. They could have just as well elected George Bush president of Mexico as it would have the same end effect.
Obrador was without a doubt the person who would have done the most for the poor/average people in Mexico. Instead Mexico now has another right wing president who will cooperate with Bush to the great detriment of the poor/average people of Mexico.

There are many Unaffiliated neo-Nazi types in the military. Many more who like the whole idea of the miltarized way of life also hold views like God made this world for whites to reign supreme, women have a narrow "place" and they should stay there in their place, gays should be destroyed, children have no rights, etc. So now someone leaks that organized neo-nazis are acceptable to recruiters, anything to fill their quotas, and WORSE,the military is hiding the fact so parents will push the military on their kids, and why is anyone surprised?
Posted by: adele dooling on 07/09/06 at 5:59 PM
Well, one reason people are surprised is that the military was supposed to have rooted this stuff out, very publicly, several years ago. Another is that there's still a widespread belief, not entirely without justice, that the military is more integrated than many American institutions...
