The Company They Keep
James Dobson, of Focus on the Family, is well known for his extreme anti-feminist, anti-gay, pro-child- (and dog-) beating, "pro-family" philosophy. Bill Bennet, self-appointed "values" czar, is known for his compulsive gambling problems. Sen. George Allen, who recently came under fire for making racist comments, is also known to have a history of violence. Ann Coulter is known for desiring the death and destruction of a number of non-conservative ("non-conservative" is actually a stretch when desribing the New York Times, but you get my point) citizens. Jerry Falwell blamed gays, feminists and the ACLU for the attacks of September 11, 2001. And Sean Hannity's nightly broadcasts speak for themselves.
These people are all part of the Values Voter Summit that will be held September 22-24 in Washington, D.C. to help mobilize conservative Christian voters.
But they are not alone. Joining them will be White House Press Secretary Tony Snow and U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. The ersatz president's official spokesman and the highest-ranking official in the Department of Justice will gather together to discuss how to "take back" the country from people who believe in free speech, separation of church and state, and equal rights. This is compassionate conservatism at its most flagrant.

Your right on the money rabblerowser! Many years ago I read a modern translation of the 'TAO", one of the statements that I really like is "He who has too much is a Robber Baron"! We were warned about this by "Ike" but too many people were having life too good to bother to control the Military Industrial/Government Complex. "jimmy" warned us about regaining control of our form of gov.,so we lost it. Now we live under an "Oligarchy"! We have a Capitalist society (the modern term for Feudalist society),which keeps most people terrorized by threatening them with imaginary threats from outside, when in fact the biggest threat is from within! It's time everyone find a little internal fortitude, recognise the TRUTH and do something more than call names and make excuses. Maybe form a real alternative political party to get us back to the original constitutional government, make a few adjustments so this power grabbing couldn't happen again.

End the genocide in Darfur
Every day, Darfuris face rape, murder, and starvation. Be a Voice for Darfur: tell Obama to end the suffering.

The money goes round and round.
Eighty per cent of all stock market shares are owned by the richest ten per cent of Americans. Some people call those ten per cent the “elite,” but I call them plutocrats.
Consider for a moment what that means in terms of their power to control and manipulate all aspects of government. They own at least eighty percent of the Military Industrial Complex, our largest industry, making them also our largest employer. Which in turn generates a powerful and loyal political base, because nobody votes themselves out of a well paid job.
Plutocrats have concentrated their investments in specific industries like the Military Industrial Complex because they are guaranteed humongous profits. They have also invested heavily in media corporations, banks, insurance companies, medical, drug and health care industries, power companies, telephone companies, and of course gas and oil corporations.
Our system of government is based on legalized bribery. Plutocrats have the gold and use it to bribe politicians to legislate in their favor exclusively. In a comically perverse way though, the bribes are really just loans, because politicians use those bribes/loans to buy media ads to get reelected so they can collect more bribes/loans. The money goes round and round, but always ends up in the plutocrats pockets.
