Katherine Harris's Campaign Makes FEMA Look Well Organized

More hilarity from the the slo-mo tragicomedy that is Katherine Harris's Florida Senate bid. She's expected to win her primary today, visiting fresh torment on Republicans who'd rather she disappear like so many uncounted ballots. This from AP today.

"This campaign will go down in history as one of the most disastrous ever run in the United States," said Jim Dornan, who helped launch Harris' bid as her campaign manager. He left three months later.

"I don't think anybody can envision any campaign being conducted in as poor a fashion as this one's been conducted," said Darryl Paulson, a University of South Florida political-science professor.

Her campaign shrugs off such criticism. "Our entire campaign team is looking forward, not backward," said spokeswoman Jennifer Marks. "We're energized and we're excited."...

"She doesn't interview, she flirts. And it's offensive to professional women and it's embarrassing," [Dornan] said. ...

She recently called separation of church and state "a lie" and angered Jews and others by saying, "If you're not electing Christians, then in essence you are going to legislate sin."

Florida Republican Gov. Jeb Bush said Harris couldn't win. Ditto state Republican Party Chairman Carol Jean Jordan.

But spokeswoman Marks says Harris is being greeted by "a tremendous wave of support" as she travels the state, focusing on issues instead of the controversies.

Can you say karma? Justice comes slowly, granted, but it looks like there may be order in the heavens after all.

Katherine Harris - the poster-girl for bad behavior in the election Republicans would most like to forget, that of 2000 - has easily won her bid to become the Florida GOP's nominee for Senator in '06. This is the case [Read More]

With a little luck, this candidate scorned by her party and especially her governor will want revenge by spilling the truth about what really happened in the Florida 2000 election.

An intriguing possibility. If that happened, such would be my new faith in divine justice that...I might even be willing to join an online Democratic Christian community.

I hope that happens. Normally Florida crackers and most Rethugs love someone like this because she is another Ann Coulter whacko type person.

But given that some Rethugs like Jeb (the confederate) Bush does not endorse her must mean that she is a loose cannon whom they fear.

But fundamentalist christians like the Catholic church, my church I am ashamed to admit, will certainly endorse this idiot. Harris will continue their corrupt power over we moderate Americans who love our country.

Whatever happened to the real Republican party, the party of Barry Goldwater. I guess they are gone forever now that the Catholic church and the confederate southerners have complete control over it.

America surely needs at least three or four more political parties like England or 15 like Israel has. But that will never happen, the concept of coalition governments would never be allowed by the politicians of either party in the US.

Bob,

One of the frustrations I have felt is that it never seems like the right time to vote for Libertarians, the Green Party or an independent. We seem to have been [at least for the last decade] locked into this place where upsetting the Republican majority is so important, that I feel obliged to vote Democrat, just knowing its a surer bet. I don't know the history or other country's development of so many parties, but hope that we can get there. After all, as much as we pick on ourselves [frequently deservedly] we are a young country even still. Maybe we can get there eventually. Voting outside of our two party system almost seems like a luxury that the current social political atmosphere cannot afford.
