Looks like a typical diversion & cover-up to me. It seems they want to get your mind away from the "fingerprint" that was reported. I never expected to have anyone fingered for it.

The original Ames-strain theory, if true, would naturally lead investigators to discover either a set of suspects that could be embarassing for certain agencies, or simply embarassing in the lack of security at sensitive facilities.

This new "revelation" that the anthrax could be made by anyone with a Walmart chemistry set neatly solves the embarassment problem while also allowing the FBI to claim they are hard at work to solve this case.

The FBI used to say the 2001 anthrax attacks used weaponized anthrax that was domestic in origin. Now, maybe not. What happened to the elephant in the room? Is it just a coincidence that the FBI once again considering the possibility that the 2001 anthrax attacks were foreign in origin? Will there be another anthrax incident? Will fingers point at Iran? Ft. Meade and Ft. Detrick are right in the middle of this but some other 'enemy' will just pop up and suddenly become another Bush 'enemy' or a 're-enemy'. by having antrax identified of an specific strain tells me that we are dealing with one of this 2 problems.
1. The antrax came from a local lab wich opens margin for coverups
2. Terrorist are well advanced at developing a unique strain.
