Foley Now In Deeper Trouble
Congressman Mark Foley, already in enough trouble for sending sexually explicit and other inappropriate messages to adolescent Congressional pages, is now looking at a more serious charge. It turns out that Foley made repeated attempts to get a page to rendevous with him at night.
"I would drive a few miles for a hot stud like you," Foley said in one message. This text, according to the FBI, could constitute what it takes for the government to make a federal charge of soliciting for sex with a minor on the Internet against the former Congressman. There is also at least one message that indicates that Foley met with at least one page in San Diego, though the nature of the meeting is not known.
Here is the text of one message:
Maf54: I want to see you
Teen: Like I said not til feb…then we will go to dinner
Maf54: and then what happens
Teen: we eat…we drink…who knows…hang out…late into the night
Maf54: and
Teen: I dunno
Maf54: dunno what
Teen: hmmm I have the feeling that you are fishing here…im not sure what I would be comfortable with…well see
Foley, former co-chair of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, has checked into a rehab facility in order to deal with his alcoholism. He once said, "We track library books better than we do sexual predators." Apparently, Foley was counting on a continuation of that poor tracking.

Kathleen,
I understand your fears, but I don't agree. More and more info is coming out that Hastert and the GOP KNEW about this for a year and did nothing. Now we find out that Foley may have actually met with a page. This is another example of the culture of corruption in the GOP. So now they're the party of war, torture, and pedophilia. And they want to talk about family values!

Kathleen, you are forgetting that 50% of the population are below average idiots who are perfectly happy with torturing “those bad guys”. (btw, this is the same bottom 50% you liberals are so desperate to help with a larger government, which – in your fantasies – will be run by progressive and tolerant people; somehow the assholes always disappear in liberal fantasies).
Until you liberals manage to come up with a story for the white-trash peasants that’s better than the Republican story of “getting even with those people”, a good sex scandal is all you’ve got. And even with a good sex-scandal, I’m still betting the fascists stay in power, as the stupid peasants love fascism – always have, always will.
Jesus Votes REPUBLICAN!!!

Oh, I'm so relieved! A juicy sex scandal to take the voters' minds off, oh, I dunno--the possibility of being arrested and tortured without trial for saying unsupportive things about Bush and his policies . . . or the difficulties with counting the votes straight . . . or the stacked court. . . This is something both parties can get behind! So let's all speculate about Congressman Foley's meaning in those titillating e-mails . . . let's not, say, compile a list of all those who voted for the torture bill and campaign against them. Gee, do you think there's anybody out there who's going to murder their pregnant wife anytime soon? That always spices up the news cycle!
