Lie-berman Might Bolt to GOP
We all saw this coming. After promising Connecticut that he'd vote with with the Democratic caucus if reelected, Say-it-Ain't-Joe is now saying that he might jump ship and vote with the GOP:
"I'm not ruling it out, but I hope I don't get to that point. And, and I must say, and with all respect to the Republicans who supported me in Connecticut, nobody ever said, 'We're doing this because we, we want you to switch over,' " he told Meet the Press' Tim Russert.
What might get him to change his tune?: If the Dems seek to enforce party discipline (heavens forbid!) or if the GOP offeres to keep him as a committee chairman and respect his seniority.
Lieberman added: "I am going to Washington beholden to no political group except the people of Connecticut and, of course, my conscience."
Great.

The Lie-berman is now the second most powerful man in the country.
“Democrats will hold a 51-49 edge in the Senate, so Lieberman, the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000, could find himself courted by Republicans.
He was asked about the possibility that he might switch caucuses if he became uncomfortable as Democrats sought to enforce party discipline, particularly if the GOP offered to keep him as a committee chairman and respect his seniority.
"I'm not ruling it out, but I hope I don't get to that point. And, and I must say, and with all respect to the Republicans who supported me in Connecticut, nobody ever said, 'We're doing this because we, we want you to switch over,' " he said.”
In other words, a quirk of the election has given Lieberman the power to blackmail both political parties to empower and enrich himself. Given his record of ruthless self-aggrandizement, we can expect Joe to exploit this opportunity to the limit.

Lieberman isn't likely to change,he's always been a nazi backer. He'll stick with the white house bunch, as he always has.

What's different about this? He was always as likely to vote with the Republicans as the Democrats. Remember, this was the "Democratic" Senator who knifed Clinton in the back during the impeachment proceedings.
I figure Bush missed a big opportunity when he passed up offering Rummy's job to Lie Berman. He probably would have jumped at it. The Republican Governor of CN could have appointed the "whatsisname" Republican candidate to fill in for Lie Berman in the senate till a special election could be held, giving the Republicans control of the Senate, and Lie Berman would be positioned to run for POTUS as a Republican in 2008. Win win for everyone...except the US.

Wait a minute, Ranselar--a Nazi backer?? As in, someone who is pro-Nazi? Let's not misuse that word. It's kind of important, especially since Lieberman is Jewish.

shaygets, study the history of nazi Germany. You'll find a lot of pro-nazi's that were Jews! Don't confuse politics and religion.

Can the good people of Connecticut conduct a recall against Lieberman like California did to Gov. Gray Davis?
