NYPD Watches From Above

New York City has set up a two-storey "patrol tower" equipped with spotlight, sensors and cameras to literally oversee a Harlem neighborhood. According to NY1 News, local residents sick of the area's crime are pleased, as are folks in a Brooklyn neighborhood that also hosts one of the towers. I don't doubt that, but surely I'm not the only one to find the idea of cops surveillling the public from on high more than a bit creepy.

Fascism is a people problem, not a problem that comes from leadership. Shame on us. America has become the Land of The Fool and The Home of The Naif...as the bad (anti-constitution) cops laugh.

They have basically created a prison camp of sorts. The people who live in these neighborhoods should blame themselves. What kind of values did they teach their young all these years?

Well, I live in the country, far from cops and surveillence camaras and even I wouldn't be dumb enough to do anything that would get me in trouble in plain view of the law. I mean, if you're breaking the law on the open street, you're an idiot. We won't even get into morals - there are too many illegal things I don't think of as amoral.
It may creep people out, but this battle should have been waged more strongly when radar speed detection began or even earlier, when the highway patrol wiggled its first buggy cruiser into an out of sight spot on the highway....
And on the other side of this argument, someone may be saved from a murder or rape because of those 'angels in blue' in the hightower.
