Obama to Form Exploratory Committee

Because it's our job to tell you these things, Barack Obama has posted a video on his website declaring his decision.... to form a presidential exploratory committee.

Obama says that what concerns him most about the current atmosphere in America is the "smallness of our politics." He continues, "Today, our leaders in Washington seem incapable of working together in a practical, common-sense way. Politics has become so bitter and partisan and gummed up by money and influence that we can't tackle the big problems that demand solutions, and that's what we have to change."

To bring the field up to date, former VP candidate and senator from North Carolina John Edwards has declared his candidacy, as have Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio and Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack. Senators Joe Biden of Delaware and Chris Dodd of Connecticut have also said they will seek the nomination.

Other Democrats mentioned as possible candidates include John Kerry, Al Gore, New Mexico Gov. and former ambassador to the U.N. Bill Richardson, retired Army General Wesley Clark, and the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Oh, and Hillary.

Hey, Obama, tackle this--you're hiding your head in a hole in the sand: "We must start producing cars that use less oil. The auto industry has not been asked to raise economy standards in 17 years, and lately both Republican's and Democrats have stopped asking. Today we have no choice. Starting in 2008, we should raise corporate average fuel economy standards a modest 3 percent a year over the next twelves years... This is by no means a dramatic increase: five years ago, the National Academy of Sciences concluded that raising CAFE to 33 mpg for passenger cars could easily be done without compromising passenger safety."
Mr. Senator--in fact--according to the National Academy of Sciences, "Failure to implement significant reductions in net greenhouse gas emissions now will make the job MUCH HARDER..." We will be "...experiencing MORE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS."
And so..., don't you know... what about plug-in hybrids...?
Well, isn't it sort of difficult to believe that all those vast multitudes of cars on the freeway everyday are only going twenty miles... (twenty miles is the proposed range of the plug-in hybrid--after that it switches from battery to gasoline).
Oh yeah, Obama--20% of your heating bill could be saved by effective attic insulation...?
Actually, isn't the really, really big question here (forgetting about entirely electric cars with quickly switchable battery packs): how do "we" get all those millions and millions of "MAJOR GOVERNMENT MISTAKES BENEFITTING THE OIL COMPANIES" (read regular cars) off the road.
Like let's get real--drop in an electric motor and a small quickly-swappable/plug-in battery pack (that twenty mile job), and then charge at home or off the freeway--with electric lines "dug" into the lanes themselves...
Where in hell are you coming from dude...
Whatever..., dog you surely don't belong at the head of the pack!!!

I have always wondered why you couldn't just put a little Honda portable generator in the trunk of your electric car?
