Mearsheimer and Walt accused Jews of being more loyal to Israel than America. The left jumped to their defense. Molly Ivens called anyone who called them antisemites, "right wing nut cases."

As an American Jew and a liberal, I feel more and more betrayed and disappointed by the left.

Susan, I encourage you to read the Mearsheimer and Walt piece. It doesn't make any claims about all Jews, only about certain lobbies. You may still take offense with it, but it is much more nuanced that what you say.

Yes, it still seems antisemitic to me. It still seems like it could have been written by David Duke to me. An antisemitic stereotype is an antisemitic stereotype, no matter who one applies it to. There are many ways Mearsheimer and Walt could have disagreed with or "certain lobbies" without resorting to antisemitic stereotypes. I don't always agree with AIPAC, but I would never accuse them of dual loyalty. That is the difference.

I have never lived in the South. My parents retired to Florida, but almost everyone there comes from the Northeast.

I live in Philadelphia and I don't meet a lot of people like Warren Chisum. Most of the antisemitism that I am exposed to comes from the left.

In response to criticism of his book Carter has fallen back on traditional antisemitic canards of Jewish influence, power and money. I find this troubling. I have a lot of other problems with Carter's book, but I don't have a problem with anyone suggesting that the Palestininans should have a state.

I'm sad to say it, but I think Susan has proved her point here. Even if there were Zionist collaboration with the Nazis, the context in which it's mentioned here seems to blame the Jews for the Holocaust, which is flat out outrageous. Blaming Jews for Stalinism is almost equally perverse, since they were targets of genocide throughout Russia's history.
