New Ad Plans to Scare You Into Voting for McCain

We're with Wonkette: this is one of the worst campaign ads in a long time. From the weird Survivor-like wind pipes at the beginning, to the ominous music, to the scary echoing audio, to the complete lack of coherent message... just terrible all around. Wonkette's hypothesis: "McCain’s depressed campaign team clearly wants him to drop out and settle at one of those Del Webb retirement communities in Phoenix, where he’ll have far less opportunity to start a nuclear war with somebody. This isn’t a campaign ad so much as a cry for help." Hard to argue.

It seems like the kind of campaign that other aging dark war horse, Dick Cheney, might run. (And, yes, I've blogged about four candidates for the Republican nomination in one morning.)

It is just completely unenthusiastic. I got sick of all the McCain coverage in 2000 - but there was a joy and enthusiasm in him then. He just seems like a bitter old man now.

And if that's his definition of courage, he must think that Dennis Kucinich is about the bravest person in American government.

McCain is insane in the membrane. Wow, that rhymed, I am a rapper. The thing that worries me about McCain is he seems pretty hawkish. Don't get me wrong, I don't want some soft al-Qaeda sympathist democrat in office whose approach to foriegn policy is ignore the problem and it will go away. I just think McCain can get a little crazy- I can picture him implementing an aggressive foriegn policy similar to Bush. Lastly, another thing I don't like about McCain is he is either against the president one minute or giving him head the next minute- make up your mind McCain. Which is it?

When you take a position that is not popular but that you know is right, you just may be violating what a democracy is.

Now, I realize that there are two parts to democracy, majority rule AND protection of the minority from the majority.

However, that is not what he's talking about. He's talking about going on a killing rampage. He's talking about outlawing abortion. He's right wing all the way. He's a complete extremist. He's talking about turning this country into a theocracy.

Somehow he got the reputation for being centrist. HE IS NOT!!

Hmm... "insane in the membrane" not a bad choice of wording Noah Jue Bagel. I agree.

Misanthropic Scott, you hit the very point I think is the most important. That stupid quote: "When you make a decision that you know won't in the short term be popular with your constituants..." The government is supposed to be for the people by the people, not BY some moldering old hypocrit who has some military service pictures to montage for a commercial and FOR whatever corporation is paying the most. And Noah Jue Bagel, what a silly comment! We all know Bush is dickless except for Cheney.

Don't forget Paul Miller. The moniker "The Big Dick" was taken by Richard Nixon. We'll have to call Cheney "The Little Dick" (or perhaps either microsoft or picoflaccid).

Misanthropic Scott - LOL. Glad we see eye to eye on so many things [with the normal amount of slight variation to keep things interesting].

Can't recall a single material difference in opinion with you yet Paul Miller. Just the one case of a misunderstanding of a post I worded particularly badly.

That's fair. I'm not even sure I remember the content anymore, though.
