Glass Houses

The Senate Judiciary Committee subpoenaed the president and the v. president of the Senate today for information related to the warrantless wiretapping program. The subpoena is a result of the ever-expanding examination of what the hell is wrong with Alberto Gonzales' Justice Department. I'm all but certain it won't unearth anything of value, but there's a lesson in it, nonetheless: If you're going to stretch the boundaries of the law, you have be competent enough not to beg for an investigation. In other words, the Bush administration might have gotten away with its attempt to stretch the law so aggressively that a handful of officials threatened to resign if there hadn't been a sh-t show so big that everybody and his dad got a chance to air their grievances before the Senate and the American public. On the other hand, the word impeachment remains strangely absent from Democratic discourse, so maybe you can have your cake and eat it, messily, while also throwing stones from your glass house. See what I'm sayin'?

That's because you can't impeach daddy. Only mommy. Even the Democrats know THAT much.

The administration, like everybody else, relies upon the advice of Counsel(lawyers) in what ever they do. Don't blame the administration, or anybody, if their attorney is no good. Gonzalez is a good example of where Affirmative Action gets us. Let us go back to merit.

That's a load of baloney. Gonzalez is where he is precisely because he was hand-picked by George W. Bush to be the counsel. Given that the Bush administration has a history of selecting appointees based upon their loyalty instead of their competence, I find it pretty disingenuous to blame Gonzalez on "affirmative action." If the Gonzalez problem stems from "affirmative action," how do you explain "heck of a job" Brownie?

Gonzalez was picked to get the Mexican vote. It was a Karl Rove idea. Just like the immigration plan from the Administration. Unfortunately, the masses did not go along with the idea. The Republican Party plays the "race card" just like the Democratic Party.

Bush put Gonzo in to run interference and to provide cover for crime family associates. He got caught. I think the right wingers are obstructing investigations and impeachment long enough for another "emergency" so Bush can declare martial law. The Republican congress set him up for installing a Dictatorship. Can he pull it off now is the question.
