Republicans Candidates Remain Completely Substance-Free
TAPPED has had their finger on an important aspect of the presidential campaigns.
Obama, we're told, only recently started to show some substance. Yet, by this standard, every major Republican candidate is about as substantial as tissue paper in a tornado. I'm not the first to notice this, but I was still taken aback by just how little Republicans seem to care about even appearing as if they have any ideas when I started poking around their websites.
Basically, the Republicans duck every significant issue, from Iraq to healthcare. When Democrats stop bashing Bush and turn their attention to their Republican counterparts, they'll have lots of material to work with. For more details (or lack thereof) see this post.

Most of the Republican candidates don't want to discuss significant issues. The exeception is Ron Paul, who has consistently opposed the Iraq War since before the invasion, defended habeas corpus, opposed the Patriot Act, and generally championed the Bill of Rights. Most of the Democratic candidates are soft on ending the Iraq War, especially Senator Clinton. Senator Mike Gravel and Congressman Dennis Kucinich want to end the war in Iraq, but they can't get the traction in their own party that Ron Paul is getting. Dr. Paul now has more YouTube channel views and subscribers by far than any other candidate from either party. He is willing to discuss at length and in depth any issue relevant to the presidential campaign.
Ron Paul's presidential site is kind of bare-bones, but his congressional site has all of his speeches and weekly statements going back several years.

His campaign is for real, and is going to surprise a lot of people. He now has 28,000 volunteers signed up on Meetup.com, and more joining every day.

Ron Paul, on why his "fringe candidate" campaign is attracting such enthusiastic support: "I guess Liberty is just popular."
