RudyCare! Is Useless!
I overreached in my blog post earlier today when I said that the Republican presidential candidates don't have plans on any of the issues. Rudy Giuliani has a health care plan, it's just counterproductive and dumb.

Suppose having another crack at Hillary-Care is what we need?
That plan about which CommonDreams.org said:
"The package that came out of the closed-door White House gatherings of experts was so complicated and so unexposed to the normal give and take of big legislative initiatives, nobody knew - or knows to this day - whether it was any good."
Hmmm..., sounds kind of like a forerunner to how Bush's White House formulates legislation, doesn't it?
Coincidence?
So who DOES have a plan for American health care, constructed for America and Americans; one that'll actually WORK for us, and not one simply copied from one crafted for Britain & the Britains, Sweden & the Swedes or some other, fundamentally different nation, it's economy and it's people?
Hillary?
Someone..?
Anyone..?
Bueller..?
CAN we trust the organization that gave us Medicare Part-D with FULL control of the ENTIRE Health Care System?
Personally, I have deep misgivings regarding their ability to take something as complicated as this and do anything other than make it even worse.
As Bert Gummer of the hilarious (to me) sci-fi "Tremors" film series said to a group of gov't agents: "You guys do what you do best. Find something simple and COMPLICATE it!" Except they're not Starting with something simple in this case.
How “complex” is an insurance system? Assuming we lived in a country where the politicians were looking out for the interests of its human citizens, the complexity would be only in the rationing. That’s not to say that rationing IS a solvable problem, but it’s NOT unsolvable because it’s complex - it’s unsolvable because people don’t want to ration themselves. And, anything that’s perceived to be “free” will need to be rationed. We currently have an easy to understand rationing system called “wealth” (or “survival of the fittest” if you’re a libertarian).
The “Hilary plan” - or any plan that’s trying to “balance” the interests of the peasants with those of the politician’s real constituents – will by necessity be complex. For the exact same reasons that the tax code needs to be complex in order to reward those who own the politicians.
The European (or European like) countries had it easy when their socialized health systems were setup. The members of each European tribe could be shamed into supporting “each other. Hans! Ve need health insurance because de Italians have it! You tink ve aren’t as gout as de ITALIANS?” Personally, I don’t see the white-middle-trash or white-lower-trash supporting any new government initiative that is also available to “those people”. That’s what makes American “great”, we all hate each other more than any other outside groups. I think the Progressives (Socialist, leftist, whatever …) call this “diversity”. I don’t see any motive for “the worthy members of our society” that currently have health insurance sacrificing what they’ve got now to “help others”, unless their imaginary-friend supplies them with enough guilt. HOWEVER, if corporations can unload their health insurance premiums on a government agency AND this typical American style government agency can waste trillions into the hands of political insider… NOW yer talkin’

So what's your point?
You agree that Congress is not up to the task, I take it? Or are you suggesting that they are?
You denigrate every political persuasion you seem capable of identifying, but you never seem to propose a workable alternative.
Got a plan, John?
Got any constructive suggestions?
Part of a movement you think has the right vision for governing ourselves? Or is negativity all you've got?
"Assuming we lived in a country where the politicians were looking out for the interests of its human citizens.."
Do you know of such a country? And if you believe there IS one, do you believe controls are in place to ensure the politicians will still operate that way in 20 years time? 50 years?
And for me, John, the most unworthy of people are those who seek to feel superior by continuously using terms like "trash" or "peasants" to describe anyone who isn't them, or just like them.
There's a word for that kind of "thinking"..., give me a minute..., it'll come to me.
