Bush Draws Parallel Between Iraq, Vietnam
Finally, something war champions and war critics can agree upon.

Comments
Give him credit when he tells it like it is.
Iraq IS turning into Vietnam-less-the-jungle, just as those who opposed the invasion predicted it would.
It was going to be over in a hurry, the pro-invasion politicians assured us. It wouldn't drag on for 10 years like Vietnam did. They promised.
Well, we're 4 1/2 years into it now, and there's nothing on Congress' table that would bring it to an end.
I'm reminded of Dana Carvey doing Bush Sr., at the outset of Gulf War I.
"This will NOT be another Vietnam, because we have learned the Simple Lesson of Vietnam: Stay OUT of Vietnam!"
I guess Junior, Dick, Senators Clinton, Kerry and a host of others just HAD to go and learn the Simple Lesson of Iraq the hard way, didn't they? But what the hell..., it didn't cost THEIR lives! Or even their political offices.

Jezz people, if you worked with (or even KNEW ) any of the white-middle-trash (and lower) you’d have found out (this morning) that: Iraq - just LIKE Vietnam - is bein’ lost by the LIBERALS!!! This is just the first phase of blame shifting. Blamin’ the “mommy party” for losin’ EyeRack. You socialists (or liberals or leftist or progressives or whatever …) will, of course, play right into their hands by pushing for an early pullout instead of drafting the young Republicans to help Jesus win the surge.

John, this is not a partisan issue. Sure the blame game will always come forward in dreadful situations like this, but at the heart of the matter is money.
gvc is correct in the fact that this situation should've never happened were it not for our wise and noble leader inability to remember some of history's simple and painful lessons.
P.S. I thought that Iraq was about liberation of the people and the hunt for phantom WMDs - where did Jesus come into all of this? And why does Jesus only love republicans?

Oh Mr REASON... When the ignorant – but very statistically normal - frat boys (plural) attacked Eye-Rack, it was with the gleeful support of the majority of the dumb-ass `mericans, and the spineless Congress. This SAME spineless Congress cannot NOW appear to be even MORE spineless by insulting the leader of the “Daddy Party”, and pulling the heroic troop out before they WIN!!! REASON does not apply to anything in politics. When the frat-boys pee in your flower garden after a drunken party, is there a REASON? Recall from Maxtix 103, and knowing the difference between “what” and “why”.

Big mistake, George! What MANY of us will remember when we watch replay after reply of your speech to the VFW today was the helicopters evacuating Americans and Vietnamese off the roof of Amembassy/Saigon, and of the helicopters being shoved off the deck of the aircraft carrier in the South China Sea as we choppered madly out of a country and a war we couldn't win then, either!

There’s been a lot of debate over the similarities between Vietnam and Iraq and I think one thing in common that can’t be debated are the soldiers need to get out what is really going on. I just saw this documentary Sir! No Sir! which is about the G.I. movement during Vietnam and how they made underground newspapers about what was really going on. It reminded me of the soldiers in Iraq blogging about their experiences. We can always depend on the human desire to speak freely. Here’s their site for more info
