Giuliani: 9/11 Changed My Views on Gun Control
This video shows Rudy Giuliani explaining his stance on guns to the NRA. He cites 9/11 as one of the reasons why he is changing his pro-gun control views.
Tim Grieve at War Room asks the obvious questions: "Could the citizens of New York have stopped the attacks of 9/11 if they'd opened fire on those airplanes with handguns and hunting rifles? Should airline passengers be allowed to carry weapons on board?" I'll add: does Rudy Giuliani think American citizens will soon be fighting terrorists in the streets of their hometowns? Is that what he envisions as the future of The Terrorists' War on Us?
The easiest explanation for all this nonsense is that Giuliani is pandering, plain and simple. The more complex reason is that Giuliani's experience on 9/11 made him overly paranoid about the world's dangers and simultaneously hardened him to what is normal, sane, and good in the world. He now sees danger around every turn — primarily from Islamic terrorists but really from everyone, from everywhere, and at all times.
And, I'll be perfectly honest, there is a portion of America that actually wants those qualities in a leader. This is the country in which we live, no?

So, apparently unfettered gun ownership will keep people from hijacking airplanes and flying them into buildings? Are you serious Rudy? You believe that kind of logic will get people to vote for you? (Well, I guess, logic, reason, and fact are not exactly Republican strong points so maybe it makes sense in like...a parallel universe.)
"...Giuliani's experience on 9/11 made him overly paranoid about the world's dangers and simultaneously hardened him to what is normal, sane, and good in the world."
How much paranoia constitutes "appropriately" paranoid about the world's dangers?
What IS 'Normal' in the world?
Is it a safe place?
Can we judge that by what we see in the newspapers, hear on the radio and see on TV?
Was it EVER a safe place?
Does disarming those willing to abide by the law make it a safer place?
Is That what we should consider 'sane'?
Could those hijackings have been prevented if the Federal Government had, as Ron Paul suggests, allowed the AIRLINES to be responsible for the security of their planes, and the lives of their passengers and crew?
If the US "We'll Look After You" Government hadn't forbidden pilots carrying firearms for said purpose back about 1987?
As to Rudy. I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of the mouth of a man, seeking the Oval Office, who had never encountered (so he said) the concept of "Foreign Policy Blowback".
Mister "Nyna Leven" Mayor, didn't bother to read the "Nyna Leven" Commission Report, or understand what it had to say.
But let him run the country Anyway?!?!

Im sorry - I will not vote for any man that gets a kick out of crossdressing. We need stability for ONCE in Congress, and if I actually get to witness this before I die, I will be shocked! (and my crossdressing reference is not anti-gay or anti-choice etc) I want a SERIOUS leader, not a JOKESTER out "kicking ass" around the world, in the oval office!
