I disapprove of 'gay rights',
not because I disapprove of
gays, but because I disapprove
of factionalization and
pandering. Here's an example
phrase, of what I'm talking
about: "We, the People".
3 words, short, sweet, and
to the point, implies a
bunch of folks unified behind
an idea, in this case, the
Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence.
It was our national "Fuck YOU"
to England, and then-king George III. Didn't specify
men, women, black, white,
straight,gay, rich, poor,
just said 'people', as in 'people from all walks of life', or 'everybody'.

Now, 21st century, divided,
factionalized, allied with
this that and whatever,
Stewart can portray himself
as gay-friendly as he wants,
but still misses the mark.
"We", means everybody, and
we ALL need one thing these
days, and that's reform in
Washington, starting with
fiscal reforms, but also
extending to the political.
Representative government
should extend to ALL, not
just the rich, not just
the hyphenated-americans,
not just this or that well-
heeled special interest
group, religious or otherwise,
no special seats for lobbyists
but rather a representation
concept that will exclude
none. Good luck with that...?
